Description

The house is located in the southern part of Chios Island,in the traditional mastic village of Pyrgi before it is known for its traditional black and white scrapes and the world famous Mastiha of the house is located in the center of the village(next to the square) opposite the famous Tower from here, and its name was also known as the village which in fact was a small castle. The Tower was built during the time of the Generals, which the owners of the island used. The space The house is distinguished for its traditional architecture with rooms of high height and at the same time all modern amenities that can meet the demands of all visitors. In the interior of the house there is a staircase that connects the living room,in which there is a bathroom and a bedroom with the 2 bedroom and the bathroom located on the upper floor. Other things to note The “painted village,” as many call it due to the ornate decorative patterns on the facades of the houses, is the largest medieval village of Chios and is 25km from the city. Despite the changes caused by time and human intervention, Pyrgi is still a living medieval legend today. Its urban planning and architectural form are of immense historical interest. Its fortification layout is representative for dealing with hostile raids. In Pyrgi many historical monuments are preserved. The church of the Holy Apostles, a copy of the katholikon of Nea Moni, is a perfectly preserved Byzantine monument, with plenty of ceramic decoration, serrated tapes in the dome, with double marble lions and colorful phialostom in the masonry. Its erection is set in the 13th to 14th century. Both its exterior architectural elements and murals that adorn the interior surfaces of the walls are kept in very good condition. The frescoes, which are the work of Antonios Domestichos of Cretos, date back to 1665 and are characterized by a bold folk style, in which elements of the Cretan School's art are preserved. There is also the temple of the Assumption, built in 1694, the temple of Taxiarchis that dates back to 1680, and the monastery of St. George of the 19th century, all in very good condition. But what charms the guest at the first glance is the “chiseled” houses, a type of decorating the façade with geometric shapes in black and white. The technique is based on the black sand of coating, which scrapes scrapes from simple or complex patterns and gives black themes on a white background that reminds of the Italian sgraffiti. This exterior decoration technique was loved by the locals, which is why they kept it alive to this day. Remember… The style used for the exterior decoration of the houses is unique.
