Description
The Wandering Peacock is a unique lodging experience. Outdoor spa, with a cedar hot tub and views of the Appalachian Trail, wood-burning sauna with herbs from the garden. The house showcases vintage machinery, a library, an outdoor kitchen with a pizza oven, and much more. Nestled within the forest foothills of the Appalachia trails, this converted barn is minutes away from downtown Kent and just walking distance from Bulls Bridge, the local river, and waterfalls. The space The converted barn has kept its rustic feel while possessing all the comfort of a modern house. Two master bedrooms, with showers and baths, a partial bedroom downstairs, a TV lounge that can convert to beds, and a full-size kitchen and dining room. We have special features not typical in a hotel setup: a wood-burning pizza oven, hot tub, and sauna for outdoor experiences. We have a commercial-grade expresso machine, an Edison sound machine from the Victorian era. (Because of these features we need to know guest expectations to see if they are a good fit for your group. The fire is an experience but also takes time for guests to get to a suitable temperature and it helps if guests know a little bit about how to start and manage a fire. The owners are artist and world travelers many decorations are inspired from far away lands. Unique stained glass decorates much of the windows and lamps in the house. There are also oddities from around the world used as decoration. The grounds are private with gardens and a fire pit area to use. Host go to the back to feed the chickens and may be landscaping. There is an open view of the river and Native American Indian reservation in the hot tub area that is breathtaking. Bulls Bridge and the AP trail are within walking distance from the property. There are also seasonal berries, fruit and vegetables to pick on the property. Please inquire about these. The house is only minutes away from Kent Village, and some of the best nature in new England; Kent Falls, Dover Stone Church, and Bulls Bridge. Many farms are selling local products around, you can find fresh eggs, organic veggies and meat, honey, Dairy products, and so on, everything locally produced with passion by local farmers. Please be as clear with what kind of experience you are looking for and we do the best the accommodate. If using the grounds is important please let us know so we can give as much privacy and make sure we are not doing any construction or landscaping during your stay. We do host parties but need time to prepare the grounds. Parties need to be arranged ahead of time. Guest access The House is separated in 2 independent units all the description refers to the private unit for the guest + a private back yard. The Hosts live in the other unit Both unit are made to keep the privacy and respect the well being of the Guests and the Hosts.
