Guest access All our guests are part of our family and will enjoy our local culture and hospitality, our love and the way of life. We want you to be very comfortable and feel free to use the space we have (garden, lounge, terrace, library) and you are most welcome to join us anytime or cook with us. We are very flexible and always happy to mingle with you at the same time we also respect your space. For Our Guest we strive to provide: - Superior Darjeeling Hospitality and meet their specific needs. - High-quality, locally sourced organic food. - Safety and security, which we believe is critically important. - Healthy Habits: please let us know in advance if you would like to go for short hikes around our local trails. During your stay Since we started our homestay, we have had guests' from diverse backgrounds, countries and interests. Some were solo travellers, few couples, families as well as large groups. We are really enjoying this idea and learning a lot from the honest feedback we receive from our guests. We are simple hill folks with the love for life, community, music, people and nature. My Dad is a writer and he has a great collection of books in his library which our guest are most welcome to use. Ask him to teach you Nepali or talk about Nepali literature; English classic; Russian and Chinese folks tales. He also voluntarily runs a community school - Mahatma Gandhi High School. We are comfortable speaking in English, Hindi, Bengali, Tibetan and Nepali. Other things to note THINGS TO NOTE We are not a full-service hotel. Our home is in a quiet residential area, close to nature, with an exquisite view of the Himalayas. If you are uncomfortable walking uphill or you prefer the hustle-bustle of bazaars, please ask in detail before booking. Taxis - Please inform us in advance for all taxi requirements and airport/railway pickups. ONLY LOCAL TAXIS CAN DRIVE UP TO OUR DOORSTEP! Meals - All meal requests (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) must be made at least a day in advance. All guests are requested to place meal request before their arrival if they intend to eat at home upon arrival. (Meals are charged separately) PLEASE NOTE: We will not be able to provide meals and foods on a short notice. Meal hours: -> Breakfast: 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. -> Lunch: 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. -> Dinner: 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Location - Our home is about 10-20 minutes walk from the town centre, with a slight uphill walk when heading out to the market. If you are not comfortable walking, please ask for details before booking. Resources: Please...Please use water sparingly. Unfortunately, Darjeeling has a serious shortage of water. Room Service: We only provide room service and change of towels on request -- this helps us save a lot of water! Please feel free to let us know anytime. Car Park - Car park is available only within our premises. It is an open car park, and only suitable for small cars. Please inform us if you are driving to Darjeeling. We highly recommend hiring a local taxi driver rather than driving yourself, as the roads are narrow, windy and can get tricky. Tea Tasting Tours - If you would like to visit tea gardens for tea tasting/sampling tours, please let us know in advance and we can arrange that for you. We can help arrange various sight-seeing, tours etc in Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Sikkim and Bhutan. Please ask.
