Description
Experience staying in an Old Gaol Cell. Our Double Bed with En-suite Cell includes: one double bed, all linen, pillows, blankets and towels provided, a small hand basin, a mirror and an en-suite toilet. It is fitted with an electric blanket and a wall heater. All cells have access to shared bathrooms facilities, lounges and kitchens. All kitchens are fully equipped with utensils, stove, oven & microwave. Complimentary WIFI available. The space The Old Mount Gambier Gaol was a functioning 'English Prison' from 1866 to 1994. We have converted ex-prison cells into dorm rooms, twin rooms and doubles. For the squeamish at heart we do also provide rooms which were not used as cells, but were instead the warden’s offices. All of our bathroom and kitchen facilities are communal except in the family room. We do offer some cells with en-suite toilets. Double rooms contain a double bed, twins contain one set of single bunk beds. The family room contains two bedrooms (a double and a twin), a private lounge area, bathroom and kitchenette. Please note all guests are required to arrive and check in before 9pm at night. Check out is at 10am. We are located about five minutes walk from Mount Gambier's main street. Here you will find an array of restaurants, cafes and shops. The famous Blue Lake is a ten minute walk from the gaol, the Cave Gardens are about seven minutes away. Guest access You will have access to all the communal areas of the gaol which includes, function room , kitchens , lounges , bathrooms , courtyards etc. there are also history signs throughout. Please feel free to wonder the grounds of our beautiful old building.
