The Hummingbird Retreat in This Old House is spacious, private and a Great Value. It has a lovely pond view and is perfect for one to six guests looking for a one night or extended stay. It is located on a scenic paved road only a 15 minute drive from Troy or Luverne, AL. A private entrance leads to a huge private bedroom, a private bathroom, a large private family room & fully-equipped private kitchen. The bedroom has newly purchased king bed and mattress, sofa sleeper, 55” TV & recliner. The space Please note that The Hummingbird Retreat is labeled in Airbnb as the entire house because of having private entrance, private kitchen, private bedroom and private bath plus private family room. However, The Hummingbird Retreat is not the entire house. It is a huge private suite within This Old House. To book the entire home, book This Old House. Guests will enter the Hummingbird Retreat through its private entrance from the wrap-around-porch. Guests will have exclusive private use of the following: -The Huge Hummingbird Bedroom with ensuite sitting area (sleeps one to four) -The Spacious Bathroom (with tub & separate shower) -The Open-Plan Family Room (with seating for six and sleeping for one or two), and -The adjoining Eat-in-Fully -Equipped- Country Kitchen with dining for six. (None of the above describes space is shared space. ) As with similar lodging accommodations, you may see our cleaning staff and guests from other retreats on the porch or on the massive beautiful grounds. The Hummingbird Retreat is a part of a 6200 square foot Victorian Era home built in 1912; the same year the Titanic sank.This large home is nestled in the country with an exquisite view of the family’s nine acre pond. You may fish (at small charge) by obtaining permission in advance The Hummingbird Retreat has its own handicapped accessible entrance off an amazing wrap-around-porch that leads to an approximately 349 sq. ft. bedroom with an en suite sitting area. This bedroom has all recently purchased furniture! Including a king bed, sofa sleeper, 55 “TV & recliner. Free parking is convenient and close to the handicapped accessible ramp. The Hummingbird bedroom offers sleeping for one to four The king bed and high-quality mattress are newly purchased as is the full sized pull out comfy sofa bed which has an upgraded mattress system. Then, if requested, there is sleeping for one to two on a sofa and air mattress in the family room. The recliner, couch, and 55” flat screen TV are perfect for a calming afternoon nap or catching up on your favorite show on cable. Lounge on the couch with you feet propped on the beautiful new ottoman or use it to hold your computer while you surf the web. The lovely private bathroom, has restored antique claw-foot tub, nice shower, and furniture original to this 1912 home. An open-plan family room with country eat-in kitchen equipped with stove, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, & Keurig coffee maker is just down the hall from the lovely bedroom and bathroom. Make special memories as you visit in the family room or share a meal at the beloved round table. An outside grill is also on site for your enjoyment. A few games are provided so the guest can get the full affect of the wonderful spacious shared yard. The vast shared porches afford the opportunity to gaze at the sparkling pond or the grazing cows while swinging or rocking the day away; all while listening to the songbirds and other country sounds . Along with pond gazing you could enjoy a picnic on the porch at the patio table. Bring your board games an engage in a little competition under the shade of the immense porch! Dining is only minutes away. The famous Old Barn Restaurant which is a converted 100 year old mule barn is just up the hill 300 ft from This Old House. It is open from 4pm to 8pm Thursday - Saturday and serves country homemade cooking and country-grown vegetables on Sundays from 11am - 2pm. The Old Barn has won the award for Alabama’s Best Steak and the best Catfish Award for Alabama. The famous Chicken Shack is only a 18 minute drive in Luverne, AL. Just off 331.
