Description
A mountain retreat bordering the UNESCO Heritage site Jatiluwih, equipped with a swimming pool facing the ricefields, a large garden and gazebo. You will be immerged into the Balinese rural life away from the tourist crowds, spending a few days hiking, relaxing in the hotprings, visiting Batukaru temple and the butterfly park, enjoying massage facing sunset, investigating local iconography in churches, with meals served by the neighbors or a nearby Balinese restaurant. The space Pursuing the objective to become part of the landscape, the house has an open living room / kitchen, with a spectacular traditional Indonesian architecture (Joglo, from Java) made of teak with pillars and fine carvings, and flooring made of a combination of wood and traditional tiles. Bedrooms are conceived as preserved spaces from the surrounding nature, yet with open bathrooms. A swimming pool was added with a Japanese-style garden on the side and the valley on the other side. Sculptures, paintings and other artefacts from all over the world are spread over the rooms as this place was designed as my permanent residency. Neighbors were trained to take care of the house and meals and have proved extremely hospitable and competent to the pleasure of the guests. An English-speaking driver and guide is also available to drive you around on tours and hikes (yet you can just walk yourself around as trails depart right from the house). Indeed, the villa is isolated as a perfect place to rest and serves as a base for excursions to Jatiluwih UNESCO Heritage Site, temples, hot springs, treks, churches with local iconography, and even the coast is reachable for day trips. This isolation, a luxury given the dynamic tourist development in the island, is a guarantee of peacefulness in one of the very few remaining authentic Balinese regions. Guest access Guests have access to the entire villa and surroundings (half an hectare of land).
