Classic lake house bungalow built 1909 on east shore Cochnewagon Lake, Monmouth, ME between Lewiston and Augusta; convenient to Bates, Colby, Bowdoin, Freeport, Maine Coast; 2,400 sq. ft. living space, 25 ft from lake, 175 ft shore front on 1 acre. Dock with ladder, picnic table, lawn furniture, and gas grill. Cathedral white pines, eagles, great blue herons, loons, swimming, fishing, boating, walk to town center, Cumston Hall, Theater at Monmouth, Monmouth Museum; 3 public golf courses nearby. June - August: 7 day minimum In summer, swimming, fishing, boating; biking, hiking; property is double lot with great lawns for games: croquet, badminton, horse shoes, baseball, soccer, kickball; short walk to public beach, town basketball court; longer walk/drive to town tennis court. In autumn, beautiful fall foliage viewing on lake; in winter, lake is steps away for cross country skiing, snow shoeing, ice fishing, snowmobiling, lake walking and night star gazing. No pets unless service animal; no events on property (i.e. weddings, family reunions, etc.) unless approved; only up to 8 registered guests on property unless approved; parking for only 4 spaces. Property is on quiet, one lane, private road with seasonal camps on both sides. Residents/guests in autos are always asked to travel at snail’s pace. Many road residents have multi-generational history, are friendly and respectful of mutual privacy. Community is safe, peaceful, great for walking, running and biking. Cochnewagon Lake is ½ mile wide, 1 mile in long with 28 ft. max. depth. Monmouth, ME is town of 3,300 population with fireworks festival in July, town fair in late June, Apple Fest in late September, and Ice Fishing Tournament in February. Monmouth has private summer Boys and Girls Camps as do many neighboring towns. Driving distance is 1 hr. Portland, 3 hrs. Boston, 6 hrs. NYC. Local area airports: Augusta State Airport and Portland International Jetport. No pets. No events on property. Parking for only 4 vehicles. Bring your own beach towels and beach blankets; bring your own water inflatables & floats, bring water shoes for lake if you are not used to muddy, soft bottom; various sized adult/kid life jackets available, canoe and kayak available. Children and seniors welcome; entry and 1st floor generally amenable to elderly or disabled, 1st floor bedroom & full bathroom, stone fireplace (not to be used), central heat if needed.
