Travel+Leisure Voted the Hollywood Sign Chalet one of the BEST Airbnbs in California! We are THE closest house to the HOLLYWOOD sign. Once owned by the 60's band The Association ("Cherish", "Windy", "Never My Love"), this house is embedded in Rock & Roll history. This is a rustic, vintage A-frame house built in 1963. Bucket List Experience! If you want everything shiny & new like The Four Seasons, you should book a room at The Four Seasons. This Hollywood Sign Chalet is a fun, rustic Rock & Roll house featured in Linda McCartney's book, "The Sixties". The house has an indoor/outdoor feel with fresh air and breezes. There are 4000 acres of incredible hiking and horseback riding in Griffith Park. We were just featured on Emmy Award winning show STAYCATION! Check us out on youtube. com watch?v=2EQ92XCCvhs We are artist/filmmakers based in Western Mass, but we maintain a live/work studio called UndertheSign Studios in our Hollywood home and one or both of us may be working in LA during your visit. Our studio is separate from the house, so you will have total privacy there. We give you complete privacy, but welcome you to contact us anytime for anything and welcome you to visit with us as well. Or living room sofa Total Maximum Occupancy 12 guests. A-Frame living room with newly strung 7 foot grand piano, large scenic decks, patios, full kitchen, jacuzzi spa. For you music lovers, you will also find a vintage Audiophile system in the Living Room: Altec A-7/500 “Voice of the Theater” speakers, powered by a 500 watt Hafler D500 amp, and augmented by a BBS Sound Maximizer signal processor, a Carver C-17 Preamp with Sonic Holography, and an ESI 150W Subwoofer. Please note: no loud music played after 10 pm due to the Noise Ordinance with the City of LA. Anyone playing loud music during Quiet Hours will be asked to turn it down. HOUSE RULES: It is our mission to ensure that our valued guests enjoy their stay with us! This is a permitted vacation rental with the City of Los Angeles. We also have an equally as important commitment to our neighbors and our community. Below are the house rules that we must enforce. Please read them as well as all your guests prior to confirming your reservation. * Minimum age policy is 25 years old. Proof of Valid Photo ID may be required prior to check-in. * NO PARTIES AT ANY TIME - a party is defined as any combination of the following; ANY loud noise and/or excessive drinking that is disruptive to neighboring houses and/or guests outnumbering the maximum amount permitted as defined above. A party will result in an immediate eviction from the property with no refund given under any circumstance. * Mandatory Quiet Hours: 10 PM - 8 AM. Please respect Quiet Hours & no loud music should be played outdoors. Owners live in the front and we’re located in a quiet residential neighborhood. * The Property is to be occupied by no more than the maximum sleep number stated on reservation unless approved in writing by Host. If Guest exceeds the occupancy limit and falsifies occupancy information at the time of reservation, Guest shall be subject to eviction. "Occupants" includes small children, infants and any and all visitors. Overnight occupancy are not to exceed the posted maximum occupancy. Occupancy is defined by the total number of people at the property at any time. If it is discovered that they are more guests than permitted, you will pay $100 fee per guest. NEIGHBOR COMPLAINTS Actions by guests that result in neighbor complaints or police being called to the Property will result in a minimum $250 charge, which charge will be used to deal with legal issues and fines. If the Police are called out a second time, guests will be immediately evicted with no refund. Guests shall be liable for any and all costs incurred by Management as a result. * In the event of an emergency to perform necessary repairs and/or maintenance, we reserve the right to enter the property. No Weapons Permitted. * This owner lives in a separate apt/work studio in the property. Guests will have to all for themselves the full kitchen with dining nook, grand A-frame indoor/outdoor living space and dining room with fireplace. All outdoor decks and patios, spacious TV loft, and east garden with Jacuzzi and outdoor dining table and BBQ (we provide charcoal and lighter for you). Owner lives/work in the property. Common Shared Spaces is the front garden and driveway. Plenty of street parking at the end of the driveway (max 4 only) by front of the house, along the gated fence. There is a separate apartment on the property that the owners are working/living in. We will give you complete privacy if you prefer, but welcome you to contact us anytime for anything and welcome you to visit with us. The neighborhood is upscale and safe. Our section of Mulholland Highway is on a private road of about 5 houses and is blocked from traffic. Hikers are allowed to walk but not drive through to get to Griffith Park. You will hear them talking among themselves in many languages as they come from all over to see the HOLLYWOOD sign but their voices are pretty quiet as the home is perched high above the road. You could ride-share between the Beachwood market and buses if you don't have your own vehicle. We also highly encourage Uber/Lyft for large parties as our parking spaces are limited. In 2014, Moby photographed the house and wrote this in his blog: "i was out hiking today and i came across this perfect little a-frame house. whenever i see perfect a-frame houses i think of record producers in the mid 70’s reading about est and sitting in the hot-tub thinking about how best to record background vocals for the doobie brothers. they seem quintessentially californian, the perfect home in which to make lentil stew for robert plant and melanie. which is odd. odd because with their super pitched roofs they’re designed for alpine climates where it snows 8 months out of the year. further re-inforcing the idea that almost all architectural vernacular in southern california is arbitrary. awesome, but arbitrary. swiss chalets in a place where it never snows? down the street from normal castles and center hall new england colonials? delirious los angeles." -moby
