Description
The Hobbit House is a tiny house (15x11'); Full size bed, futon/couch, outdoor tub, shower, electric fireplace, patio, picnic table, fire ring, and outhouse with composting toilet. The patio overlooks a pond and is part of a 53 acre forested property in the Blue Ridge. WiFi is now included. Glamp in style! The main lodge is just up the driveway if you need to contact the host. The outdoor shower/tub is NOT fully enclosed or private, and may be turned off in a freeze. Nature lovers only! The space This 15x11' studio space is a private tiny house with patio and outdoor shower and claw foot tub with on demand hot water. In winter months the outdoor water is turned of when there is potential for a freeze. Please use my soaps or your own biodegradable products only! The house is connected to a gravity spring with 400 gallon reservoir wonderful to bathe in and drink. You can visit the spring head behind the house a short walk behind the house. The kitchenette has a small dorm fridge and electric cook top, toaster oven, and french press. Coffee and some teas are provided. Basic cooking oil and seasonings are provided. A small electric stove provides ambience and heat in cooler months. During the winter months the bathrooms in the main house are an option if the outdoor water must be turned of during a freeze. Outhouse is a 2 seater and directions must be followed. The listing has a 2 night minimum, if you only need one night contact me for special pricing option. Income goes into the non-profit for Spirit Canoe Lodge. We are committed to providing affordable lodging for nature lovers and do not charge a cleaning fee. Please leave the space as good as you can so that we can keep this policy and not raise costs to travelers. The cabin is surrounded by forest and suitable for most nature lovers. Nature rules here and bugs and little creatures occasionally get in the house. If you are squeamish about bugs etc. and want a more sterile environment a hotel is your best bet and there is a Holiday Inn nearby. Guest access Please be sure to print out directions only those that don't get lost and GPS is not always reliable. The property is not visible from the main road and you actually turn at 1608. The main house is a short walk from the Hobbit house and often operates like a hostel hosting up to 12 guests. You are welcome to roam the property watch for poison ivy though. If you need internet you can contact Kelly and come to the main house for reception or to make a call. Please be considerate if there are other guests at the main house. The spring head is up a small trail behind the house. Property is a holler and is ridge to ridge please stay within the property boundaries. Other things to note We live in the woods! Bugs, critters, and nature rules here at times. If you want a spotless 5 star hotel experience do not stay here. If you are a nature lover and enjoy quiet beautiful places in nature you will thoroughly enjoy the Hobbit House and the land here and those other guests that may be visiting the main house are of the same fabric. The bathing area is not completely enclosed and private and is in nature so if exposure concerns you it might not be a listing for you. During a hard freeze the tub/shower water lines may be turned off. You can always shower at the main lodge as needed.
