Modern refurbished loft, part of a charming 19th century’s palace “Villa Bianca”, with 200 years of history, a 20 meters from the beach on the seaside of Taormina. In this former warehouse, Sicilian jars with oil and barrels with wine were kept. This year the owners decided to renovate it, to give the building a new life. The original structure has been maintained but, at the same time, its sophisticated and contemporary appearance has been made. Thus was born a recovery and renovation project, which not only saved the historical memory of the building, but created a new expansion of the period residence, in an intriguing combination of past and future. There are three principles that have guided the recovery work: - the careful selection of materials, to obtain a material effect, essential but also warm and welcoming - the study of space, through a play of heights, voids and solids, shadows and lights - the careful choice of design furnishings. Once inside the loft, you find yourself in the main room of the house, a double-height living area, which culminates in a spectacular sloping ceiling, clad in original antique wood with iron beams, which gives a great sense of space and breath. In the main room, the space winds between the wall equipped with brand new kitchen Snaidero, a cozy corner with a comfortable peninsula sofa bed and a dining area. At the end of the living area, there is a very spacious bathroom, equipped with state-of-the-art bathroom fixtures and a large shower cabin, finished in gray stone. The bedroom is located on the mezzanine and can be reached by a wood-paneled staircase. Traces of the ancient building survive in the wall of the bed area, which the restoration has rediscovered and enhanced. The bedroom area overlooks the living room below, through a glass and steel railing, absorbing the vitality and light coming from the living area. The loft has a private outdoor area, finished with an exposed stone wall, an ancient Sicilian jar and the cool shade of the climbing green. In this outdoor space, there is a dining area and two comfortable armchairs to spend relaxing moments. The loft therefore appears as an articulated, yet essential environment, in which simplicity is combined with a suggestive interpretation of the space, to give authentic emotions, destined to last over time. Other things to note This apartment is located in a lively town with frequent activity and a vibrant atmosphere. There is a train that passes close to the property and occasional street noise is common, especially during evenings and weekends. If you are searching for a peaceful countryside retreat or expect complete tranquility, this may not be the best choice for your stay. Visitors who enjoy being in the heart of town and appreciate the local buzz typically love the location. However, guests who are sensitive to noise may find the environment more lively than expected.
