Description
If you love nature, you will love our house! This property has sweeping views and is a nature lover's dream. The house has award winning architecture with vaulted ceilings and large windows to soak in the setting. A wonderland for kids with lots to explore across our large property. The house is spacious at 2400 sq. ft. We are about 30 minutes from San Francisco, Point Reyes Station, Wine Country, and Beaches. This area is known for its beauty, hiking and biking. The space The Pros: 1) The house is set in a very beautiful natural setting in the woods with gardens in the back and views all around. The house has amazing architecture with vaulted ceilings and huge windows to soak up the views. 2) A tree house wonderland for kids. We have swings, zipline, slack line, trampoline, tree fort, tether ball court, ping pong table, hot tub, a private large flat cul de sac with basketball net, perfect for riding scooters and bikes. I wish I could express the joy I have experienced watching my kids run around our property from our relaxing back porch. 3) A very sunny front porch with spectacular views (View of mountains and the local neighborhood below. Lots of pretty sunsets, good tree colors in the fall and some fascinating fog formations pouring over mountains in the spring and early summer) 4) A partly sunny back deck surrounded by forest and gardens that provides a very peaceful setting and escape from our intense summer sun 5) A small sunny back yard surrounded by gardens. 6) A very private location with a lot of space... the property feels like several acres 7) Chicken coop so you will have fresh eggs every day (probably about 4- 5 eggs per day). (Note chickens are not very productive during the winter) 8) A dog friendly hiking trail right around the corner that takes you to views of SF, Oakland, Mount Tam and the Bay in only a 15 minute walk from our house. A fantastic way to start the day and get some exercise. 9) Local elementary school very close by will large fields, play ground and several basketball courts and baseball fields. 10) A really nice mix of sunny spots, partly sunny and shade. If you are a sun lover, you can find the sun but there are a lot of shady areas as well where the kids can play and be protected. Within the house, the big windows and vaulted ceilings allow a lot of natural light into the house. 11) Experience wildlife. We live on the fringe of a vast coastal wilderness. Sightings of deer and turkey very common and, sometimes, you might see a Coyote, Hawk or Jackrabbit. You can hear owls and coyotes at night. Lots of frog noises in April - June. And circadas noises in August and September. 12) Located near the two charming villages of Fairfax and San Anselmo. They are about 3 miles away or about a 7 minute drive. 13) We will allow a dog but will charge an additional $20 fee per night. ******************************************************************** The Cons 1) There are 52 steps to our front door (3 flights of stairs). The Stairs are wide with hand rails. You will get you exercise if you stay at our house but certainly not recommended for people with orthopedic issues. 2) We have a house with two dogs and one indoor/outdoor cat. So if you have issues with pet allergies, then this is probably not the house for you. 3) We expect the guests to look after our cat and chickens, which are pretty low maintenance. 4) We live up a pretty big hill. Our elevation is probably about 200 - 350 ft above the valley. The road is nice and very wide but there is no sidewalk. One section (about 100 yards) of the hill is very steep so only experienced child riders (8 and above) will feel comfortable biking down. Biking up the hill is pretty much out of the question for most riders but pushing the bike up only takes about 5 minutes. Most people avoid the hill by driving to the bottom, parking and biking in the flats from there. 5) We live on the north side of the hill. From about Late October to Mid February, the house can be a little dark for some people. So be prepared to get cozy in front of our two gas fireplaces during the winter months. 6) Our back yard is not fenced in. So if you bring a dog, I don't advise allowing them in the backyard off leash. 7) Don't expect a perfect house. We have lived in our house for 5 years with our two rambunctious boys so some of the walls, flooring and furniture show some wear and tear. I think our house is nice and is in good shape, but if you are looking for a pristine house, then this is not the house for you. Guest access Hot tub, zip line, tree house, trampoline, cul-de-sac, Basketball hoop, etc. etc. - great stuff for kids! Warning - the house is up three flights of stairs - but there are no stairs to the entrance of the backyard and deck. You have access to our garage as well. Other things to note There is one cat who spends the majority its time outside. We expect our guests to take care of our cat and chickens, which are low maintenance.
