This fully furnished 2-story home was built in 1900 & retains the era's charm, yet has modern conveniences - indoor plumbing & central A/C! It easily sleeps 6 people and is ready to go - just bring your toothbrush :-) The home has 2 bedrooms (1 king, 1 full) upstairs, plus a sofa bed on the main level, 2 full baths, a fully-equipped kitchen, dining room, W/D, 2 gas fireplaces (1 in master bedroom), 3 flat-screen TVs with Netflix & Pandora (plus basic cable in living room), WiFi, wrap-around front porch with swing & rocking chair, deck with outdoor furniture, and gas grill. The front yard is enclosed with the original wrought-iron fence. If you're in the area for an event in Louisville (e.g, the Derby!) or Cincinnati, you'll be within an hour's drive and will have a relaxing home to return to each evening. Guests will have access to the entire house and yard for the duration of their stay. On the day of check-in, we'll give you a code to use on our keyless entry system. In the house you'll find a list of personal recommendations regarding restaurants, shops, wineries, and activities. That sheet also contains the wifi code and password, plus checkout instructions. Welcome to the heart of beautiful historic Madison, IN, a river town that hosts many art and musical festivals throughout the year. Madison also has several award-winning wineries and a wide range of unique shops and restaurants to try. Our house is located on West Main St., within easy walking distance of several of these restaurants and shops. Everything else downtown offers is within about 8-9 blocks. There are paths for hiking or biking nearby, including along the river. Clifty Falls State Park is a natural wonder year-round, and touring some of the gorgeous historic homes (including the J.F.D. Lanier Mansion) is not to be missed. Check online for info. on festivals and special events. Madison is about an hour's drive from Cincinnati or Louisville, and about 2 hrs. from Indianapolis. One of the great things about the location is that it's in the heart of downtown (toward the west end), within walking distance of many of the shops and restaurants. When the weather's nice, many guests enjoy walking to the river and all around the downtown area. If you'd rather drive once you're in town (or if you'd like a place to stash the treasures you find to purchase!), there's plenty of free parking on any street.
