Feel like you're in your own studio apartment in the spacious, bright lower level of our home! Walk out to your own private lounging/dining area. Separate entrance and parking space. Enjoy the serenity of Camp Columbia state park, as it is our extended backyard. Tip: The sunsets are beautiful! 2 hours from NYC, 30-45 minutes to local skiing and just 10 minutes to Washington Depot. Drive up to our Guest Parking where we greet you and show you down the fieldstone steps to a spacious backyard and your private entrance through a 3 season sun room and into your cozy two room private suite. As a guest once aptly described it, "more than a room, less than an apartment". There are plenty of complimentary snacks, a super comfy queen size bed, Keurig coffee maker, large desk, and a separate room with luxurious seating in front of a 42” large screen TV to relax after your day. A full size refrigerator is also available for you to utilize. All indoor spaces are completely private. Other than occasional footsteps from above, you should feel comfortable knowing that you are in your own personal space. Let us know if you have little ones, we will make some special accommodations (toys/snacks/etc)! We have a very friendly dog (Stella) that you may run into outside. However, she is just 2 years old, so she can have a bit too much energy for some people. Therefore, we keep her on a lead when she is outside and guests are present. BUT, if you love dogs, she is happy to say 'hi'! You may also hear her above if she gets rambunctious. But, generally she is quiet while she is in the house. She does bark a bit at night when she goes outside, but we keep her outings to a minimum and do not let her out after 9:30p to avoid interrupting sleeping hours. One point of caution: If you are physically limited, there are 3 stone steps sans a railing to get down to the suite but also a grassy hill to utilize if need be. There is also a step up to the shower which may be difficult to navigate for some. Another note to set your expectations: If you are exceedingly tall, it may be slightly awkward in the shower, as the space b/w the raised floor and the shower head is not excessive. Drive up to our Guest Parking where we greet you and show down the fieldstone steps to a spacious backyard and your own private entrance through a 3 season sun room and into your cozy two room private suite. A vehicle to get around is of the utmost important in these parts as there is no public transport nor are there sidewalks on which to walk the roads. We can recommend places to explore including great nature walks along a boardwalk or hiking to a stone tower with an amazing view of the surrounding area, the largest natural lake in CT, places to ski in the winter, or picnic in the summer. We also have some amazing restaurants in the area. And if you’re an ice cream lover, we have two options just up and/or down the road. We welcome you to enjoy our secret hideaway in the country and will do what we can to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. We also have 2 single person kayaks available for use, as well as a complimentary beach pass to the Morris Town Beach. See you soon! We are a friendly family who loves meeting new people (as does our very people-friendly dog), but will allow you as much privacy as you desire. Feel free to ask us for anything you may need during your stay — we will try and accommodate you in any way we can. Our property is next door to Camp Columbia State Park and just a few minutes drive from Arethusa properties, South Farms, Bantam Lake, White Memorial and all surrounding towns - Litchfield, Washington, Bantam, Bethlehem and Watertown. Maps will be provided, as well. We’re out in the country so public transportation isn’t really an option. Uber/Lyft is less than reliable here. Therefore, we recommend you drive your own car or renting a car to travel around. We have plenty of private parking so finding a spot isn’t an issue. Bring bikes or your hiking shoes there’s plenty of places to explore once you settle in.
