Description

Rustic hike-in cabin with kitchenette, access to 150 acres of wooded mountain trails. 4x4 or AWD required in winter. The space Glamping at its best! Come enjoy the peaceful sounds of nature on our expansive property. Get away from it all as you gaze at the stars from the handcrafted chairs on the patio or your hammock among the trees. Our property at Mt. Solitude offers marked trails for hiking, a spring fed pond, colorful grounds to wander with various gardens, and the happy melody of native birds from sunrise to sunset. Mountain View cabin features handcrafted furniture- including a sitting area to relax, play cards, or kick back with a good book- a kitchenette and breakfast bar with a single burner cook top, kettle, french press, mini fridge, and accessories like pots & pans- a full-sized plant based memory foam mattress, and a patio with a view. The cabin is set on our main “campus”, with a million dollar view of Mt. Monadnock out the front door. There's an electric heater and a propane heater with a nice flame in the cabin to keep it cozy! We have fleece bathrobes and extra throw blankets for added layers on chilly nights. All of our facilities are rustic as we are an operating summer camp, though this cabin is newly built with rough sawn lumber- there is a shared bathroom building with composting toilets, and a shower house a 1 minute walk from the cabin. Once you park, you will hike in your gear 1 minute up the trail to the cabin. We have other cabins for rent on-site and live here, you will see a human or two, despite this it will feel like you have the place to yourself! This is a slow paced relaxed home away from home. The charm of this property and your stay here are the tranquil forests, babbling streams, diverse wildlife, and ever changing seasonal landscape. Come melt away for a few nights, at this peaceful mountain getaway. We run a wilderness summer camp throughout the height of summer season, and have ample space for others to come stay and explore on the shoulder seasons. Enjoy the fall foliage from our summit trail looking out on Mt. Monadnock, Governor’s Mountain, and the valley of the Connecticut river. In the winter, we have snow shoes available to rent (or bring your own!) and well marked trails. We’re only 35 mins to Mt. Snow and 1 hr to Okemo. We’re pet friendly, but must be leashed! We have chickens who will adoringly eat any of your non-meat compost, and two friendly dogs on site. Pellet stove is turned on mid Oct, but provided efficient electric heaters can be used until then. You will see us wandering about, weeding in the garden, working the land, caring for our animals. Please stop and say hello if you feel like having a chat or would like to know more about the area. Otherwise, we’ll keep to our tasks and give you a friendly wave along the way. Guest access In addition to your cabin you have access to a shared composting toilet building all year as well as a shared shower house. You’re welcome to sit on the deck or swim in our trout pond and explore our trails and remote sites around the property. Pool access can be requested July-Sept and Hot Tub is shared with other guests throughout the year. Wood bundles can be purchased for $7, when available, please let us know if you would like one and we can drop it off for you. Or you can collect dead fall from the surrounding forest as there is plenty of wood there. Please do not take our split & stacked cordwood as we use that for heat. Our dining hall is also open with board games, some instruments, and a TV to share May-Oct. Other things to note Quiet hours 11pm-8am. Hot tub is a soaking tub, no jets. Please refrain from taking wood from our stacked pile, we use that to heat our home during the winter. No entrance into buildings other than your own cabin, bathrooms, shower house, and Buchanan (dining hall) during seasonal times. No radios, Bluetooth speakers, or other speakers loud enough for other guests to hear. We are in the woods with purpose and so are you, soak up the sounds of the wilderness & its natural symphony. No fireworks, no glass bottles please. Park in your designated spot please. If additional parking is needed let us know and we can usually provide space in our lower staff lot. DO NOT park on our grass. Please clean up after your pet, do not leave them unattended in the cabin.
