The space Our cottage was built before the original home owner, a stone mason, built our 1923 bungalow. This sweet 700 sf cottage is the perfect home base to explore Memphis. It sits quietly in our backyard with a private entrance from our clean alley. True to Midtown Memphis, the Swallowtail Cottage is an eclectic blend of styles - from vintage antiques to retro kitchen to clean modern luxuries. Sleep deeply on the queen size mattress and new quiet bed frame. You can maintain focus at the antique grandfather's desk. The cottage has high speed WiFi. The charming retro kitchen is stocked with all of the basic equipment to create a real southern meal. (Anything else you need, you are welcome to borrow from us.) The full kitchen includes a dishwasher, electric stove and oven, and a set of stainless steel pots and pans. For breakfast, enjoy coffee from a french press. Sometimes, you might find my homemade granola! The fridge is stocked with sparkling water and creamer. Snack on popcorn in a old fashioned, hand-cranked popcorn popper. (Or the microwave if you prefer.) Relax in the living room on the sofa or comfy armchair: read a book by a local author, or stream your favorite show on the 42" widescreen. In the squeaky clean bathroom, subway tiles surround the shower/tub. Enjoy the %100 cotton plush, clean towels and linens. There is ample closet space, a stackable washer/dryer and central heat and air conditioning. Peek out the window at our honey bee hive. Feel free to ask us about it, but please don't approach our hive. Guest access The private cottage is all yours. Come and go as you please. If you need anything, we live in the "big" house across the backyard. You may park your car in the *small* parking space and use the private entrance from the alley. Or park on our street. Our yard small backyard is well-loved by our three children, our scruffy little terrier, Murphy, and our collie/husky, Mr Badger. Unfortunately, our backyard and outdoor play areas are not available to our Airbnb guests. You are welcome to hang out in the private patio area adjacent to the cottage entrance. The cottage is accessed by keys through iron security doors, and separated from the alley by a 8ft privacy fence. Other things to note The cottage has an off street parking space for one small vehicle. All of our wonderful neighbors use the alley to access garages, so we ask our guests to be extra careful not to block the alley. There is ample on street parking in front of our house.
