A charming little farmhouse filled with antiques & eclectic artwork from all over the world. It is situated in the middle of a working farm that raises a plethora of exotic fruits, vegetables, shiitake mushrooms, and flowers for local gourmet restaurants. The house interior has a unique design decorated with beautiful hand crafted stonework accented with exotic driftwood trim from old wooden shipwrecks. Try our outdoor Neapolitan wood fired oven for the best pizza ever. A truly unique getaway! The home has many creature comforts while featuring the basics of a yesteryear farmhouse. You will have use of the entire house including the outdoor wood fired oven & fire pit nestled in a pine grotto. This is a convenient location close to places like Frank Lloyd Wright’s Wingspread & the SC Johnson administration building, the historic Wind Point Lighthouse, & the world class gourmet restaurant Sebastian’s. Just strolling around the farm watching the ducks, geese, chickens and rabbits is so relaxing. Catch the season right and you can pick some blueberries fresh off the bush. There is nothing better than fresh shiitake mushrooms on a wood fired pizza. You can access the entire farmhouse and all the outdoor cooking facilities. You may access the entire farm after requesting a brief tour pointing out where plantings & animals are that may be sensitive to traffic. We do have an active artists workshop on premise that can be toured upon request. The facility is currently utilized for metal sculpting & blacksmithing with some integration of wood and stone. We live very close to the farm and are attending to it every day so we are accessible in person, as well as phone, text, & email. Group pizza cooking classes can be arranged for additional fees during the summer. The 13.5 acre farm is very close to Lake Michigan. When all the leaves are out it is hard to imagine the farm is actually in the middle of a subdivision. It is surrounded by trees and a beautiful ravine with a creek that leads to Lake Michigan. You will often see Deer, Coyotes, Fox, Mink, Great Northern Owls, and Red Tail Hawks. The location is a 35 minute drive to Downtown Milwaukee, 75 minute ride to The Chicago Loop. Mitchell field is a 23 minute ride. There is plenty of parking space at the farm and it is a great area to bike. There are several scenic hiking & biking trails close by. Bus service is not available. Kayaking & boat launch sites for the Root River and Lake Michigan are very near the farm. We have plenty of space for boat & trailer parking. There is always firewood available for the oven, fire pit, and fireplace. We do not let any food scraps go to waste or into a garbage disposal so we ask you to put it any food scraps in the red canisters under the sink. If they are full please leave them outside on the Panda table.
