Description
A super cozy mountain yurt with your comfort in mind. We have a lot of yurting experience and we think this yurt has it all. It is remote and high up in the mountains, yet a short drive from civilization. Plus, if you're traveling along Highway 6, it is only a stone's throw away! Come stay for one night, the weekend, or a whole week. This yurt has it all! Dogs are allowed for a small pet fee. You can drive to the yurt in non winter months, otherwise, the hike in is ~1.9 miles. The space In the summer you can drive directly to the yurt. You will need to drive less than 1.5 miles on a dirt/gravel road. In the wintertime, snowshoeing or skiing to the yurt makes for a beautiful trail. Your destination is 1.5-1.9 miles (depending where you start) and is a cozy 20' diameter yurt tucked back into a grove of aspen, pine, and junipers. The yurt is located at ~ 8,300' elevation. There are several slopes nearby if you wish to get some quick ski turns in or just do some good o' fashion sledding. Sleeps eight adults comfortably on double bunk beds. Three inch sleeping pads are provided. There is a wood burning stove and firewood to keep nice and toasty. Double-burner gas stove, kitchenware with food prep counter space, solar powered lighting system, games and books, table and chairs, and, of course, an epic outhouse! In today's busy world of technology, it is incredibly enjoyable and rejuvenating to be far up in the mountains with those you love and care about without any distractions. Snowshoeing and backcountry skiing during the day (or hiking, fishing, exploring during the day) and relaxing, playing games, and laughing the night away. That is what yurting is all about. Guest access You have access to the entire yurt! During the spring-fall you can drive right up to the yurt. You'll be driving on a dirt road for about 2 miles after turning off the highway. It is not a bad road, but we still recommend 4WD or AWD with clearance so you don't have to worry. We have had people go up in sedans, minivans, etc. but you do so at your own risk. In the wintertime you will be parking at a large pull out and hiking in the 2 miles to the yurt. People love snowshoeing or skinning up. It is an uphill gradual hike, but it makes for a super fun and quick exit whether you ski out, hike out, or sled out! Other things to note **Note: We have stocked bleach spray up at the yurt. It is the responsibility of each group coming and leaving to sanitize appropriate surfaces.** Each person in your group will be required to sign/return via email a liability waiver and rental agreement. This is usually sent out a week prior to the reservation dates. There is no running water at a backcountry yurt. Plan to bring your own water. Pack it in and pack it out! The bathroom is an outhouse. We ask you to throw TP into a large brown paper bag and pack that out with your other trash. Not a deal breaker--ask us about it! In the summer months the county and/or the state of Utah can impose fire restrictions that would not allow campfires. Such imposed restrictions will not be reason for a refund as we have no control over such restrictions. You will need to bring your own sleeping bags (especially in the wintertime). Detailed instructions will be provided about a week before your reservation. Each group member will be required to sign an online waiver (link will be sent with pre-trip email). We have a solar lighting system set up to provide overhead lights in the yurt, which is a big bonus in a backcountry yurt. There are no outlets to plug into and no way for you to charge your devices. You should bring your own extra battery pack if you want to charge your devices. **In the wintertime when we have more overcast skies and cold temps, the battery does not always charge as intended. We have done everything we can to allow it to function in cold temps, but sometimes guests don't follow check out instructions and the battery is drained and won't charge. We try hard to give other options (such as taking up a small back up battery) to allow groups to still utilize the overhead lights. Regardless, you should take your own light sources (battery lantern, flashlights, etc.). No discount will be applied if the solar lighting is not working. This is an extra perk we offer and not standard with any backcountry yurt.
