The Historic Garden Cottage

An historic free-standing building on our 12 acre property "Claremont" (c.1857), the Garden Cottage has been fully renovated to offer a unique place to stay in beautiful, peaceful and historic surroundings. The accommodation is totally private, with a queen bed, en suite bathroom and basic food preparation facilities (fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle). It has a split system for heating and cooling. The Garden Cottage is approx. 3.4 km to the heart of Castlemaine township, and is only a short walk to the lovely Botanical Gardens. The space With an old world atmosphere, quiet and private, the cottage is about 15 metres from the Claremont homestead itself in acres of lawn, garden and bush. It is not luxurious, but warm and cosy in the winter, light and breezy in the summer. The real attraction is the fantastic location. The heritage, the gardens, the bush surrounding, there are not many areas like this. A short walk away is the historic Botanic gardens and just beyond them The Mill complex with the coffee houses, craft brewery, a great variety of artisan food products and an amazing market of antique vintage and just plain quirky stalls. Guest access You have your own key to the cottage, which is completely yours for the stay. Car parking available, undercover on request. The property is there to be wandered through. Other things to note You can feed the ponies and stroke the cat.
