Wee Cottage - Super King bed!

Fully renovated in 2021, this one bedroom cottage in Penpont is a great location to explore Dumfries and Galloway. Fully equipped kitchen, shower room with rainfall head, bedroom with a super king bed and a sofa bed in the living room. Beautiful country walks, castles, bike rides and wild swims from the doorstep with a play park accessed directly from the back garden. Great pub food and cafes just in the next village of Thornhill and the newly opened Three Villages Cafe in Penpont itself. The space The Wee Cottage (see renovation progress on our IG page) is an old 1800’s one-up one-down, stone workers cottage. It has been modified over the years to include a kitchen and shower room on the back and we’ve brought it all up to date through lockdown to create a wonderful space for you to relax and enjoy. The open plan living space allows for flexible use, with a three seater (double) sofa bed and separate wingback chair - everyone can find their perfect spot to relax. There is a smart TV for you to log into your favourite channels or even browse the internet. There is a two person dining table which is extendable to seat up to four and the kitchen is fully equipped with an induction hob, electric fan oven, fridge-freezer and microwave. All plates, pots, pans and silverware are provided, you could even bake a cake! The whole cottage is run off electric which means hot water is instant out of the tap. In the bathroom there is a luxurious overhead walk in shower and a mist free heated light-up mirror. The garden is a south westerly facing sun trap and has been re-landscaped to include a sandstone patio and gravel garden- perfect for alfresco dining with a four person dining set and sun shade if required. Babies and young children are welcome - please ask for any of the following and we will see what we can do; - travel cot - baby bath - single mattress in the bedroom (for children too big for the cot but too young for the sofa bed) - high chair A few things to note; The stairs have no kick boards and there is no door between the living spaces and the bedroom. Some guests with young children have managed to fit a pressure fit stair gate at the top of the stairs of this is of concern for you. If you would like the sofa bed linen for your stay, please book for three people as there is a slight increase in price to cover the additional linen/laundering cost. Guest access The cottage is on a very quiet road used only be residents with dedicated and private parking for one car directly opposite the front door. There is more on street parking nearby in the village if required. Access can be gained to/from the back through the cottage gravel garden steps directly onto the local playing fields and play park - great for children to let loose or bring bikes around to store on the patio. Note: the steps are uneven, relatively narrow and can be slippy in the wet, there is also no rail. Please see the photos if this is of concern. Other things to note The corner shop is just on the next street - great for essentials or replace anything you may have forgotten. There is the Three Villages Cafe on the next street along for breakfast, lunch or coffee and delicious homemade cake. There is also a new cycle path connecting Penpont to the next village of Thornhill - great for visiting the pub! Registration Details DG01384P
