The beach is approximately 300m away from the homestead, and is also accessible by 4WD. Please be aware of the risks (bogging) and exercise safe four-wheel driving at all times. Note: when travelling on Kangaroo Island a 4WD is recommended, but not critical – many roads are unpaved. Our land is protected for conservation and biodiversity, which means morning coffee on the back porch is a perfect spot for viewing the nearby wildlife going about their daily business (our resident Koala ‘Smiley’ is very friendly!). Wildlife: Our farmstead plays host to koalas, echidnas, wallabies, kangaroos, bees, possums, and many kinds of birds. We ask you to respect the surrounding wildlife and their habitat, so please pickup your rubbish. Kangaroo Island is known as a zoo with no fences, so please don’t leave food outside (it won't be there in the morning!). Desirable items to bring: - Hiking shoes - Aqua shoes (these are great for walking in water and exploring costal areas) - Slippers/thongs or other appropriate indoor footwear - Hat and sunscreen - Beach towels - 4WD vehicle is desirable but not essential - Meals and cooking ingredients can be purchased at local supermarkets or from the mainland (IGA in Penneshaw or DRAKES in Kingscote) How long should I stay? A 3-day trip gives you a short-but-sweet taste of the island (planning ahead is essential). A 5-day trip will allow time for all the sights + a day or two of relaxation. A 7-day trip will allow enough time to truly immerse yourself in the magic of KI and live like a local. We recommend visiting www.tourkangarooisland/kangaroo-island-travel-blog to make the most of your trip. Photo Credit: Nadinne Grace Photography Guest access Full access to the entire property including house, yards, horse stables, olive groves, lagoon, beach etc. However, please respect all signage and areas that are fenced, closed or locked as there could be hazards. Please stick to paths and tracks and do not wander off into the bush. We appreciate and encourage you to explore safely and respectfully. Other things to note Upon arrival you'll note a detailed 'arrival' and 'departure' checklist. These comprehensive checklists have all the information you need to ensure you haven't forgotten anything or anyone. With regards to travel arrangements, we strongly recommend booking your Sealink or airfares at the same time you reserve this booking. Demand for the Sealink ferry can be extremely high during peak times. Avoid disappointment by confirming Sealink ferry availability as well as accommodation availability.
