Whispering Oak Secret Hideaway

Whispering Oak was lovingly built in 1908 by the Mothershed family. It is adorned by a massive Oak tree that holds a swing. We have divided the house into two private apartments. Secret Hideaway is on the right. There are 3 spacious rooms. Living/dining with adjoining kitchenette, large bedroom with closet with en-suite luxurious bathroom with walk in shower. There a lovely front porch with swing that provides amazing sunset views and a beautiful backyard with large covered portico. The space One of the best features of Whispering Oak is the perfect location. It is right in the heart of midtown between Overton Square and Cooper/Young entertainment districts and only 10 minutes from downtown and the river. We furnished Whispering Oak with personally selected pieces to make our guests feel special and at home. We love traveling and tried to think of all the amenities that we enjoy when we travel and we wanted to create a memorable experience for all who stay with us. This is a very large property with private fenced front and backyard and large patio in a peaceful backyard for guests to enjoy on those cool spring days and fall evenings and everything in between . There are complimentary beverages and sweets and carefully selected linens to provide a restful retreat for our guests. We have also enjoyed creating a reference binder that tells our story with Airbnb and introduces our guests to all the things we love about Memphis. There are cameras mounted on each corner of the exterior of the house. The cameras were installed by the previous owners and are not currently operating. We cannot wait for you to experience Whispering Oak and see what southern hospitality is all about. Guest access You will have access to the entire front yard and front porch and backyard and back covered patio. You will have access to the laundry room of the house. There is a key in the drawer under the guest book. The key fits the back door of the house where you enter the laundry room. The door from the laundry room into the other apartment will be locked. There is a private entrance from the porch into the Secret Hideaway where you will enter into the living/dining room with kitchenette. Then you will step into the spacious and lovely fireplace bedroom with beautiful queen size bed and ensuite newly created bathroom with large walk in shower. The bathroom contains the original phone nook but don't expect to make a call from there. We have worked hard to create a space that will be a memorable experience for your time spent at Whispering Oak. Don't forget to try out the swing in the front yard under the 250 year old "whispering oak" and send us a selfie and send it to your friends with an invitation to come see us. Other things to note There is a 4 digit code for the door that we will provide for you at the time of your arrival. The kitchenette is small and contains a nice size refrigerator and coffee/tea station with sink and microwave, toaster, coffee pot and tea kettle. We tried to think of every detail that you will need for a comfortable stay with us. If there is something we overlooked please feel free to let us know. The house is divided into two private Airbnb apartments. Please be mindful of your neighbor next door. There is off street parking available for both apartments. The guests in Secret Hideaway park on the right side of the gravel driveway in front of the porch. The guests in the apartment on the left park on the left side of the porch beside the house. There is plenty of room for two cars. There is a Fresh Market on Union just around the corner, an easy walk for fresh fruit, pastries, wine and prepared meals. Otherlands Coffee is an easy walk as well as other dining options. Central BBQ is just down the street on Central. You will love the convenience of the property to all that is great about Memphis!
