The Retreat: A Spacious Second Floor Guest Suite

Other amenities include: Central A/C Microwave Electric kettle Coffee maker Mini fridge/freezer Outdoor fire pit Driveway lights that come on automatically at sunset and turn off automatically at sunrise. ***Owners live on the premises*** ***No third party bookings*** The space This is a private guest suite in the 200 year old home of a young family. You'll have almost 800 sf of space including bedroom, sitting room, and full bath. The suite does not have kitchen or laundry access, but we do provide a microwave, coffee pot, electric kettle, small toaster oven, and a small fridge/freezer. Due to the layout of the beds, The Retreat is not necessarily a great fit for four unrelated adults. please review the listing carefully before requesting to book. We also have central A/C! Guest access Guests have access to the guest suite and all outdoor spaces on site. Please be aware that we may be out enjoying our yard as well! Other things to note While we default to self check-in, we recognize that some people prefer an in-person check-in with a host. If this is something you would like, please communicate that with us in advance and we will do our best to make it happen. This is a 200 year old house with country plumbing. Please do not flush tampons, applicators, pads, condoms, paper towels, or wet wipes. One of the quirks of our century home is the heating and cooling. Our central AC is zoned, giving our guests the ability to adjust the air in the summer to whichever level they find most comfortable. Our heating is NOT zoned. If the heat is on for one part of the house, it's on for the whole house. We use temperature sensors in our guest suite to manage the heating for the house, and do our best to maintain temperatures in that space around 68°-70°f during cool/cold weather months. If at any time you find it's too warm or too cold for your comfort, let us know and we will make immediate adjustments. If you know in advance that you prefer a warmer or cooler environment, just let us know ahead of your arrival, and we will set the heat appropriately for you. Our guests' comfort is our highest priority. We provide a variety of small appliances for your use, but because electrical outlets are limited, we recommend against trying to use all of them at once. There isn't a convenient place to wash dishes, so most of what we provide is disposable (paper plates, bowls, etc). If you have a sensory or moral objection to using disposable plates and bowls, please inform us ahead of your arrival and we will stock "real" plates and bowls for your use. Just be aware that the only way to wash them is by hand in the bathroom sink. We are very conveniently located on Route 100 - one of the primary roads through central Vermont. Due to our proximity to such a busy road, some car/traffic nose should be expected. Additionally, we do have young kids in the home. Reasonable levels of child and family noise should be expected. We are in a rural area where cell service is notoriously spotty. We do have high speed internet/wifi and recommend that you turn on wifi calling on your phone if you would like to make calls. There are very limited taxi services/Uber/Lyft in the area. Plan accordingly if heading out for a night on the town and select a designated driver or reach out to a local taxi service in advance to see if they will be able to assist you.
