Welcome to Schantz Haus, the homestead of Joseph Schantz, founder of Johnstown. The homestead is now a working farm sitting on 500 acres of land providing woods, pasture, cropland and housing for 150 Black Angus, a small flock of Bluefaced Leicester/Gotland sheep, chickens and roosters and an occasional 4H pig. Opportunity to learn Johnstown's story, explore local history, experience life on a working farm, and much more is available to you. The space We live in the house and share some space however your bedroom and bathroom are private. There is a private guest entrance to a common guest living room that includes a small refrigerator, microwave, Keurig, television, books and puzzles. Breakfast can be arranged with the hosts and other guests in a common dining room. During your stay Because we live in parts of the house and work on the farm, we are generally available to greet and familiarize guests to the premises. We are also available through texts and phone calls.
