Steps from one of the most beautiful beaches on East Coast. Bedrooms have queen beds. The house was built in the 60's by John Eberhardt, a Broadway set designer and builder of the Belvedere Guest House. It’s been updated and restored by current owners. Many artists and creatives have stayed in the house, including Richard Sohl, keyboardist for the Patti Smith Group; more recently Lady Gaga and Wanda Sykes when they were in the Grove for gigs. There are 2 full sized, fully private bedrooms. From one you can hear the ocean. Each has a queen bed. The living room daybed can sleep one, for a weekend max of 5. Although 4 is comfortable for longer periods. The bathroom is updated and hand-built by the owners. There's a stacked washer/dryer for your convenience. A comfortable living area has a library, a great reading nook, and a full entertainment system. The dining area seats 6. The kitchen is fully eqipped (refrigerator/freezer, electric range, double sink, dishwasher, microwave).The ample patio has 2 chaise lounges, a table for 4, and a gas grill. The outdoor shower is on the side of the house. Rental rate includes water, electrical, Apple TV, and W-Fi. Clean, non-destructive pets are welcome. Guests will have complete use of the cottage. This is a seasonal rental; owners will not be on the island during your stay, but we can be reached by phone or email for any problems. For long-term stays, our weekly cleaner is available at an additional cost. Cherry Grove is a small seasonal community. There are less than 300 houses total. It's entirely walkable along the wooden walkways. It's predominantly LGBT, with bars, clubs, drag shows, and creatives. Our end of Cherry Grove is quiet and closest to the Pines. The beach is fantastic and less trafficked than the area closer to town. There's also a clothing-optional portion of the beach just to the East. The house has a wagon which you can use for transporting items to and from the Ferry. Wagons are kept in a corral next to the Firehouse. The high season is mid-June to mid-September. Guests will have full access to the house. This is a weekly rental, and we're not on the island during your stay. We're available by phone or email if you have any problems. Cherry Grove is a small seasonal community on Fire Island with fewer than 300 houses. It's entirely walkable along the wooden paths. It's predominantly LGBT, with lots of bars, clubs, drag queens, and creatives. Hansel is on the last walk, on the beach side, so it's quiet. It's a short walk through the woods to the neighboring community of the Pines to the East and the Sunken Forest National Forest to the West. The Sayville Ferry runs from Sayville to Cherry Grove and Fire Island Pines. Some ferries are 'triangles', meaning they go from Sayville to the Grove to the Pines and back. The house has a wagon which you can use to carry items to and from the Ferry or the store. At the end of your stay, you can leave it locked up in the wagon parking area by the Firehouse. Check the Sayville Ferry schedule to plan your visit. Audio equipment does not last on Fire Island due to the salt air, so while the 40" TV has full sound, there is no working stereo.
