The Black Monarch was re-built after a fire in 1899 as a brothel, casino, and saloon. The building is exquisite in its design and well preserved with original windows, doors, tin ceilings, and stairs. Local legend states that the building is haunted by the ghost of a miner who died in a gunfight, and was originally wired by electrical genius Nikola Tesla. You will be immediately overwhelmed with the incredible beauty and rich history of this enormous Victorian Gothic brothel! Featuring 12 and 15 foot ceilings throughout, ornate solid oak doors, huge bay windows, and original hard wood floors... this spooky Rocky Mountain getaway is a must for the alternative traveler! The building is currently under the process of being lovingly restored by its new owners. Every room has been uniquely themed and decorated with luxurious furniture, creepy art, authentic taxidermy, and very real oddities. Every piece has been individually curated and picked by the owners. #3 The Nikola Tesla Room: This gigantic parlor room measures 612 sqft. It contains 2 very plush queens size pillow top beds with mattress toppers, a 52” 4K smart tv, blue tooth sound system, coffee table, couch, rocker, writing desk, wing back chairs, and mini fridge. The room over looks downtown victor Colorado including the Lowell Thomas museum, and has amazing views of the Sangre De Cristo mountain range. All art and decorations are themed after Electrical genius Nikola Tesla. Local lore says Nikola Tesla wired this building while building the hydroelectric dam at Skagway reservoir in 1899. There is ample free street parking available along 3rd St and Victor Ave. No discriminatory, racist, homophobic, threatening, or bigoted comments will be made against us or our guests. You will be required to leave immediately if this rule is broken. Female guests will not be made to feel uncomfortable in anyway. It is inappropriate to harass, hit on, cat call, or make suggestive comments to our female guests. This may include talking to them or looking at them. The safety of our female guests is of the utmost importance and we have a zero tolerance policy in regards to sexual misconduct.
