Our pond front location has everything you need for an indoor/outdoor vacation in all seasons. Chefs kitchen and open living spaces indoors and boats/bikes/skates/skiis and summer patio living out. Fully equipped. Easy access to Lyme and Hanover. The main living space is large and accommodates many people all with an expansive view of Post Pond from any seat! The Chef's kitchen accommodates many cooks and many onlookers and has easy access to the patio and grill. Additionally there is a large TV room and office off the Master Suite, and two additional double bedrooms, one queen and one with two win beds, on the main floor. Downstairs there is one large queen bedroom opening to the lower deck and with its own small study or baby or child’s room with windows and room darkening shades. Downstairs is also a ping pong room and there is a full bath on that level. The Boathouse and docks await you with 3 kayaks, a canoe, a paddle board and sunfish. The dock is a perfect perch for sun bathing. There are many ways to enjoy the pond, including sitting still and feeling like you are on the Pond from almost any of the three couches and comfy chairs in the living space or going on an early or late paddle or reading in our favorite Luda loungers just outside the living room, under the trees and with an expansive upper valley view. One warning if you have small toddling or adventuresome children without a sense of danger: there is no fence between the house areas and the water. There are small life jackets for adventures but if you bring non swimmers you need to pay atttention to their whereabouts in summer and in winter if the pond is not totally frozen. This is a warm and welcoming home AND it is in the country so there are bees, wonderful birds and bats and occasional 4 legged visitors… deer or fox or even once a bobcat and a bear! I love that but not all people do. You will have access to everything. However, inquire if you only want to rent a room because there is alot of privacy for one of the rooms and we would consider renting that when we are here. We will likely only rent when we are away. But if you are in town for some reason and need a private space to stay, we would rent the lower room with its own bath, access to outside deck and separate from the rest of the house. Send us an inquiry and if we dont have guests at that time it just might work out! Also good option for overflow guests for our neighbors! We are on a short dirt road on the far side of Post Pond. There are several year round homes and residents and some summer cabins along the road. It is very private and the house commands its own view. However, the pond creates a very sound travelling surface so no music outside please. And if you are lucky, in the summer on Sunday eve, the Lodge across the pond has outdoor concerts and you can often sit on our patio and listen to the music... but more fun is to make a reservation and go there with your own wine and beer and enjoy the New England outdoor scene. Paddle over and tie up at their dock! You will need a car as there is no public transportation that will get you here even though it is 1/2 mile off Route 10 and 10 miles from Hanover. If you come to Lebanon by bus you can rent a car there. Additionally in winter the dirt road is plowed by the town and basically passable but during a storm it might take some time to get clear and a 4WD is desirable though most of the time a front wheel drive will be adequate. Our drive is plowed, but again during a storm we dont know exactly when it will be plowed so you can shovel or enjoy being there waiting. No guarantee though; this is New England and weather is sometimes mellow and sometimes rough. Similarly March and early April can be muddy on the road and slippery. I have never seen anyone get stuck, and it isnt a long road, but beware of this time of year. Lyme is one mile away and has great dining options and basic shopping needs. A small Co-op Market is just 10 minutes away and in season the Cedar Circle Farm and Lyme Fresh are the best local fresh and organic stuff. This upper valley location is fantastic for access to Hanover, GREAT road and off road biking, hiking and touring the region by car. We have bikes that you can use or bring your own special bike.
