Homey, hidden gem within trotting distance of world-famous Churchill Downs! Centrally located with easy access to interstates, downtown, old Louisville & the Highlands. Just a short drive to the Kentucky Exposition Center and UofL’s Cardinal Stadium. Cozy, with plenty of room to move! Open floor plan with kitchen & laundry. The space 1950's charm in a cozy duplex that's centrally located in Louisville. Completely private apartment with front or side door access. Almost IN the parking lot of Churchill Downs! One bedroom has a queen size bed with a full size closet. The second bedroom has a full size bed with a small closet. The kitchen and living room are all one room divided by an island and Danish modern shelf partition. The kitchen is fully equipped with a refrigerator, electric stove and microwave. The 50's pink-tiled bathroom is full size (but note that the doorway is a bit narrow.) In the spacious basement there is a large capacity washer with a regular size dryer. There is a weight bench and exercise equipment available in the basement as well. It is a full size, 2 bedroom apartment with a large basement so events with small gatherings would work. I could help you with extra seating if needed, and there is plenty of parking. The kitchen island is nice if you have food set out buffet-style. (Just be mindful that only 4 sleeping guests are allowed to stay overnight, and loud parties are prohibited.) I do have cats next door but they have no access to the other side. They are not even allowed in the basement. No need to worry if you have allergies! Guest access The apartment is set-up with free wifi and there is a smart TV in the living room. You may use the entrance on Bohannon, but you'll find there is much more available parking on the Thornberry Ave side facing the church. (Please don’t park in the church’s lot.) Be sure to leave a little extra room for your passengers if you park next to the hill. Either entrance is accessible with the same key. The kitchen is a full-sized apartment-style kitchen with all appliances. There are extra pillows, blankets and towels in the closets. Extra shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion, toothpaste and the like are available in the bathroom closet. Other things to note It is an older home so it's got plenty of character and creaks in the floors! But it is comfortable and spacious enough to stretch out and take a load off your feet. Be mindful that there are steps to both entrances if you have difficulty with stairs. The clearance width into the bathroom is also a bit narrow. A special note for Kentucky Derby guests! This property is very, very close to Churchill Downs and for the weekend of Derby there is no parking allowed on the street. For those days only with a paid reservation, you may park your car in the yard (with our help if you like, as it is on a slight incline). Also be mindful that traffic is horrendous within a 25 mile radius of the track on Thursday, Friday & of course, Saturday! If you're one of those brave and patient souls that wants to drive, don't forget to fill up the gas tank! If you're just coming to attend the Derby and/or Oaks and stay near home, you'll be set. That's my recommendation! It is only a short walk to Churchill Downs but so worth it!! You'll wonder how you lucked into to such an awesome spot! Happy trails, everyone!! Be safe, be happy!
