Here are some of the attractions located in the neighborhood; 1) Fort Frederick Built by the Portuguese in 1623 using the remains of the Koneswaram Hindu Temple, it was rebuilt by the Dutch in 1665 and renamed as Fort Frederick until the British took over in 1782. Currently utilized as a military Camp for the Sri Lanka Army’s Gajaba Regiment. 2) Koneswaram Temple Named the Temple of a Thousand Pillars, Koneswaram is a classicalmedievil Hindu temple originally built in 205BC. Adam’s Peak at the head of the Mahaweli River, and the Koneswaram temple at it’s mouth, symbolizes the flow of the Ganges river from Lord Shiva’s head to feet. Following its destruction in 1622, many of its sculptures were re-discovered underwater by Archaeologists such as Arthur C. Clarke. The sheer cliff face located at the eastern edge is popularly known as “Lovers Leap” 3) Harbour Trincomalee is the 2nd largest natural harbour in the world. Originally used by the Chola army in 900AD, it was constantly fought over between the Sri Lankan and South Indian kings. Over the centuries it had been occupied by the Portuguese, Dutch, French and British naval fleets. During World War II, while the British naval fleet was anchored in the harbour, Japanese war lanes attacked and sunk several British warships. 4) Pigeon Island National Park Named after the “Rock Pigeon” species which has colonized the island, Pigeon Island was designated as a sanctuary in 1963, and was formerly used as a shooting range during the colonial era. The island is home to Blacktip Reef Shark as well as Hawksbill, Green, and Olive Ridley turtles. Over 100 species of coral and 300 species of reef fish have been identified here. 5) Whales Blue whales, sperm whales, humpback, brydes whales, spinner dolphins and bottlenose dolphins can be seen in the area. Although Blue Whales are best seen between May & September, Sri Lanka is one of few places where these giants can be seen all year round. The management can always arrange tuks and cabs for you. However, if you are interested on public transport, it is 700m walk to the Trincomali - Pulmudey main road on which you can hail a bus (No. 900) every 15 minutes or so. You can also use the local taxi app, PickMe to hail tuks, cars, vans, and more. ***IMPORTANT- COVID-19 Update: The complex and facilities are open for guests from 15th June 2020. Below is a message from the condo management team. 1) Social distancing – we make sure to keep a safe distance between guests and the team. Signs and visual cues are installed to remind our guests to practice social distancing.1m 2) Clean surfaces - we clean and disinfect surfaces frequently throughout the day with special attention to high-touch areas. We are using high-level hygiene products, that still live up to the environmental requirements and our sustainable code of conduct. 3) Temperature checking - we continue to monitor the temperature of the guest and occurrence when they enter the condo. The following temperature will be checked at the security office and be recorded. 4) Wearing a mask - we are encouraging condo staff and guest to wear a mask compulsorily when they are out of the apartments. 5) Clean hands – we have set up stations in public areas with alcohol-based hand sanitizers for guests. 6) Gymnasium – our available gymnasium are open with a limit of 3persons at a one time. Each occupant can use the gymnasium for a time period of 1hr. first in and first out basis reservation will be permitted ( we Gymnasium to prior reserve the swimming pool facility ) 7) Swimming pool – our swimming pools will be operated with limited number of persons at the same time (phase i pool = 09 people) (phase ii pool = 06 people) each occupant can use the swimming pool for a time period of 1hr. first in and first out basis reservation will be permitted.( we encourage to prior reserve the swimming pool facility ) 8) Oceanfront restaurant - food and beverages can be delivered to your door on request.
