This gorgeous, owner-made, hand crafted, fully furnished YURT with mountain views, spectacular sunsets, and star gazing by the fire, you will be ready for great nights sleep snuggled under the puffy down comforter on the comfy queen bed. You'll be well rested for sure! There is a small fridge and a variety of coffee/tea/cocoa & treats, along with some paper products, also provided. Awesome get away or stop along your way, or just come & play! Caribou Yurt sits overlooking historic Caribou Ski Area up beautiful Buckskin Canyon. Don't worry, it is fully insulated (walls and floor) and you will stay cozy warm by the wood burning stove (be sure to read the instruction/info book on the table!), puffy down comforter and awesome queen bed. In the summer, you will stay cool with the mountain breeze through the many windows. There is a sofa sleeper, extra bedding/pillows, and pads for more guests. There is also a small fridge, microwave, big screen TV with DVDs, games, snacks, large table, padded carpet and even tile entry way! Just outside the Yurt there is a picnic table and fire pit. All firewood and roasting sticks are provided for you to enjoy (as long as no fire bans are in place). Note: no running water or shower. Plenty of fresh, pure well water is provided for drinking. Clean, cute (non-smelly) composting outhouse is just steps from the Yurt. Access to Blackrock BLM trail system, great for hiking, trail running, mountain biking, 4 wheelers, motorcycles, or snow shoeing/AT skiing, all right from the Yurt! In winter, bring your sled- great sledding hill right at the Yurt. All this while being close to town and bonus: A clear 5' diameter dome to star gaze from inside the Yurt! The Yurt is secluded on one end of a forested (maple & pine) and sagebrush filled piece of paradise! It is a private drive right to the Yurt. Miles of trails await for you to explore as you step out the door. The Pocatello area has AMAZING miles of single track- mountain bikers & hikers delight! Great road bike loops too, with beautiful views and challenging hills. Bring your gear (skis, swimsuit, hiking boots, snowshoes, sleds, mountain bikes, road bike, climbing gear) for the season! Most folks that come spend some time at "World Famous" Lava Hot Springs- so don't forget your suit! Lava Hot Springs is only a 45 min, beautiful country drive away. Caribou Yurt is an awesome stop on your way to or from Yellowstone or Grand Teton National Parks or even Crators of the Moon. Other fun stops: Pebble Creek Ski area is 30 min to being on the chair. It is an affordable, no lift line, great local ski mountain. We are only 2 hours from Grand Targhee Ski Area. City of Rocks (world renown climbing) is only 90 min away. All this plus all the great fun to do right in Pocatello! I will be available to answer questions, direct you to the trails, or other adventure spots, but usually stay out of your way! Other things that are fun: 10 min to down town Pocatello (come hungry- good places to eat. Lots fun antique shops to explore). Other drive times: 3 hours to Grand Teton National Park/Yellowstone National Park. 2.5 hours from Salt Lake City airport. 3.5 hours from Boise. 45 min to Idaho Falls. Bring your own vehicle and toys! (moutnain bikes, road bikes, snow shoes, skis/skins, hiking boots, running shoes, sleds, etc). If there is snow, 4WD required to drive right to Yurt. You can park at top of the driveway and walk about 3-5 minutes down to the Yurt. Please conact us for current driveway and snow conditions. Cant wait to share a little bit of fun and adventure with you! Pocatello has a lot to offer! If you love to climb, a local sport/lead climbing crag- Sunny or Shady Side is only 15 min drive. Idaho State University, 10 min drive, has a great recreation facility with huge climbing wall, pool, gym/workout equipment. Oh, and there are some great local eateries too! Portneuf Valley Brewery, Thai Kitchen, El Heradero, and Cafe Tuscano are our favorites. Pocatello/Chubbuck area offer most food chain restaurants. Other fun things in the area: Portneuf Wellness Complex (fishing, lake front/beach fun), golf courses (Highland Golf Course, Riverside Golf Course, a driving range, and even miniature golf), Museum of Clean, Pocatello Zoo, Museum of Natural History, Potato Museum, Ross Park Aquatic Park, and of course, shopping/cinema/malls/restaurants not far from Caribou Yurt.
