The central court of the French Haveli is open to view the sky, which gets in optimum air and light. This is generally the soul of all Havelis. The Jhula (traditionally a swing) is a place to relax and feel the calming effects of the home-like Haveli. The Suite gives you luxury of Large king size bed , private lounge, personal terrace with Gazebo to spend quality time. The large bathroom has a dress area fitted with Indian marble and traditional furniture.The terrace has a dining table where we can also serve you breakfast and the sit outs perfect for you to spend quality time. Staying in this house, you will experience privacy and yet be part of the central community space that this French Haveli overlooks upon. The Lounge at the ground floor , the dining at 1s floor and the library at 2nd floor has its own individual charisma and can ultimately be the best choice for you to experience the serenity of the spaces and traditional design. The ‘French Haveli’ is a Bed and Breakfast. We serve you a freshly cooked breakfast. The vegetables and ingredients are purchased from the nearby markets in the Historic City Centre, “Manek Chowk”. Our house keeping team will look after you. You will have any opportunity to interact with the other guest on the dining table or in the lounge. We can also make the luch and dinner on request. Guest access As a guest at the French Haveli, you not only have access to the charming Aagashi twin room, but you are also welcomed into our traditional Gujarati wooden home, offering a home away from home experience. Our dedicated housekeepers ensure that your stay is comfortable and memorable. Upon entering the house, you step into the ground floor lounge, featuring the central courtyard adorned with a traditional swing called Jhula. This courtyard, open to the sky, allows natural light and air to fill the space, creating a serene atmosphere. The courtyard has a rainwater collection chamber known as “tanka" and a water station with earthen pots called "Paniyara" , a quintessential feature of Gujarati homes. Here, you can immerse yourself in Gujarati culture, relax, and spend leisurely moments. The lounge area provides comfortable seating, perfect for reading or simply waiting. Moving to 1st floor , the dining table area, you’ll find a cozy space where you can enjoy freshly prepared meals made with ingredients sourced from the local markets. During the day, this dining area transforms into a convenient workspace, allowing you to attend to your tasks while enjoying the view of the central courtyard through the windows. The library at the 2nd floor , just outside this room has sitting space to read. One of the highlights of the French Haveli is undoubtedly the illuminated chowk, or central courtyard. The stone floor, cool to the touch, draws its refreshing feel from the underground tanka, designed to store rainwater for the hot Ahmedabad summer months. Guests often find themselves drawn to the Jhula overlooking the entrance, a characteristic feature of old Gujarati homes. This spot is ideal for engaging in lively conversations or finding quite solace with a good book. During your stay We interact with the guest as per their choice. Other things to note Living at French haveli can be a very exotic experience as you also get to experience the traditional neighbourhood. Many of our guest coming to India for the first time find this experience very different as it packed with people.
