It's minutes to Marine Avenue shops and restaurants, the ferry that takes you to the Balboa peninsula, as well as many bike, kayak, paddle board and boat rentals. We're also: - 7 miles to John Wayne Airport - 7 miles to 73 and 405 freeways - 8 miles to Huntington Beach, "Surf City," to the north - 9 miles to Laguna Beach to the south - 20 miles to Disneyland Our apartment is one of the first houses built on the island and the oldest remaining. It was built by my great, great grandfather who built it for his four daughters--one apartment for each. Over 110 years later our family still enjoys it. This particular apartment is upstairs with a porch and view of the bay. Originally restored, this is a unique apartment (and hard to describe!). It's a studio apartment, of sorts, with a living room (with sofa bed), dining room (with the main bed, a Hollywood bed that rolls in to form a couch in the daytime), kitchen, bath, front porch and parking space out back. The kitchen is equipped - not gourmet - and has no dishwasher. We provide wireless internet capable of streaming movies via your Netflix account, or other sites. We also have a small TV connected via Roku TV. Please note, we DO NOT have cable TV, but find most of what is needed via Roku and Netflix! The house has a small covered front porch with patio furniture. As mentioned, a parking space is provided behind the house and has plenty of space in the side-yard to store any bikes or kayak you may bring. We have beach chairs and mats for you to use. Because the apartment is small, we prefer to rent to two people. We provide linens, towels, blankets and pillows. While Newport Beach has mild weather year round, it can get cold in the winter and hot in the summer. We supply a portable space heater and extra blankets for the cold and a fan and windows that open wide to catch a breeze in the heat. But I remind you, you're at the beach, go enjoy! If you haven't been to this area, there are endless things to do: bike, boat, sail, walk, surf, lay on the beach, shop, dine--all without getting in a car! Area over middle bedroom closet dresser has a fan, heater, and blanket. The only thing in the hutch area is a table cloth and napkins. Towels are on the bathroom shelves above the toilet. There is plenty of room for clothing, i.e., 3 dressers, 2 closets, TV stand if needed. Broom hangs by refrigerator. Vacuum, mop, and ironing board in front room closet area. Sheets and pillow cases in dresser in front room closet area. Quilts and extra bed-pad in upper front room closet area. Iron behind kitchen door. Cleaning supplies on shelves behind kitchen door. Paper towels, toilet tissue, extra shampoo and cream rinse behind kitchen door. Garbage disposal switch is UNDER THE SINK! Open little doors and switch in there. Food storage in kitchen in both triangular cupboards and cupboard across from stove. We have a white wicker love-seat on deck, 2 small chairs and a tiny table for your use.
