Honey Pot is only 15km north of Durban and 13km from King Shaka International Airport The space Honey Pot Cottage was originally built in 1915 as one of the Farm Manager cottages when this area was a Mango and Avocado plantation and a dairy farm. It is possible that bee hives were kept on the farm hence the name. The natural gardens have one of the original Mango trees, estimates say that this tree is over 100 years old. It still bears fruit, but the Mangoes are now small and stringy. We also have 2 Avocado trees, also very old which still bear wonderful butter avocados, the record being 285 in 2016. Since the property was purchsed in 1995, various changes and improvements have constantly been made, however we try to maintain the homely cottage type experience for our guests. Ecologically we recycle everything, paper, tins, bottles and plastic. We also recycle any waste food matter in Bokashi bins and a wormery. This not only provides liquid nutriment for our hydroponic garden which provides us with fresh garden produce, but also generates very high-quality compost. Water Harvesting is a priority with all rain water from the roof areas being captured in JoJo tanks, for further use. All municipal water goes through a filtration system on our property, so all tap water is of a clean and purified nature and very safe to drink. During your stay I give my guests space but am available when needed
