Off Grid Rammed Earth House
Off Grid Rammed Earth House
Description
This is an off grid Rammed Earth home made almost entirely from natural and repurposed materials. Soak in the views while wandering over 150 acres of breathtaking terrain. The view of the stars, sunrise, and sunsets will change your life. I’ve built every bit of this home singlehandedly and hope to share it with only those who can appreciate the beauty of nature, architecture, and sustainable living. I hope this space will inspire you to delve deeper into your creative selves. The space -This home runs on solar power -The solar can power an AC only in the daylight hours (Not at night) normally 10am-9pm -I do not provide linens or towels. You must bring your own -The bathroom has a compost toilet that has directions on the wall. You will be required to empty the compost toilet bin at the end of your stay. It is not as bad as you may think but may not be for everyone -Lights are provided and can be turned on only when in use. Please conserve energy -You can plug in phone chargers, laptops, and headlamps -You can NOT plug in coffee makers, hair dryers, heaters, crock pots, or anything with a heating element. I provide a French press you can use -I provide propane for small oven and two burners to cook on and hot water for shower and dish washing. -I do NOT have a well and catch water in a cistern from rainfall. I require guests to limit showers to 2 minutes and to use as little water as possible to wash dishes. You need to bring your own drinking water. You can boil my water for coffee and cooking My home sits on over 100 acres and is surrounded by mountains, mesas, and spires. It is 25 minutes from the entrance of Big Bend National Park. There are also restaurants in the Ghost Town Terlingua 30 minutes away. I have a fully functional kitchen with pots, pans, baking sheets, dishes, and silverware. There is also an oven and stove out on the front porch to use in the summer when it’s too hot to cook inside. I have a large propane grill and a small charcoal grill you can use. Bring your own charcoal. This place is newly listed on Airbnb but is far more elaborate than my other listing next door called”Off Grid Earthbag House”.
