The Stone under the Tree

In the heart of ‘Sasso caveoso’ and two minutes walk from the city centre, under one of the few trees grown in the ‘Sassi’, is our house. A typical limestone ‘lamione’ in a neighborhood full of greenery and beautiful people. The space We are in the ‘Sasso Caveoso’, between Piazza del Sedile and Via Ridola, two of the beating hearts of our town. It’s very easy to reach us and there are many secure car parks nearby. The 50sqm apartment is fully excavated in limestone and consists of one room with fitted kitchen, sitting area, a double bed in the alcove, a mezzanine with two single beds (ideal for a family) which can be joined together to have a second double bed and a bathroom with large shower. If necessary, the sofa in the living room also becomes a comfortable double bed. A pleasant space in front of the house allows you to enjoy the neighbourhood and the special light and tranquility that the ‘Sassi’ offers. The apartment also has internet connection and central heating. Thanks to the natural cooling effect of the limestone during summer, but for really hot days the house still has a portable air conditioner and two fans. There is also a wall split for air exchange. Guest access The kitchen with its appliances and the rest of the house, is at our guests' disposal. Breakfast is not included in the price but all the basics you need for a good start to the day, such as coffee and tea, are always available. We also provide clean bed sheets and towels upon arrival and are happy to change them for longer bookings. Other things to note In Matera, as in all tourist cities, the payment of the tourist tax is required, which from January 2018 is €2 per person per night for the first 3 nights. Children under 14 years of age are exempt from paying. This tax is not included in the price of the apartment and is paid upon your arrival. Registration Details IT077014C201643001
