Swimming Beach Less than a 2-minute walk and you are swimming in the clear blue water of Abela Bay or relaxing on the beach. Syros is a wonderful blend of Greek and neoclassical architecture and tradition. Syros is the capital of the Cyclades named after the circle the Cycladic islands make around the sacred island of Delos. Delos is a day's ferry ride away and is well worth a visit, along with the neighboring islands of Mykonos. Santorini and Rhodes are also reached by ferry from Syros and are well worth a visit during your trip. Syros is rapidly becoming popular with tourists who appreciate its true Greek nature and diverse geography. Syros can be rocky and dry, similar to nearby Mykonos, which makes the sparkling blue Aegean pop even more. Depending on the season, the hillsides can also be green with herbs, purple with flowering wild thyme, or yellow with flowering helichrysum. It’s a favorite among wildcrafters and bees! Syros is particularly favored by families who relish its beaches and playgrounds, making it an ideal destination for unforgettable family vacations. (Consider one or more of our studio apartment rooms-to-let - available on Airbnb as Studio Apartments 1, 2, and 3 - for additional travelers in your group!) Some areas on Syros offer all-night partying similar to nearby Greek islands, but Abela Village is a small town on the sought-after southern end of the island, and is quiet and relaxing. If partying is your thing, you can drive or bus to the nearby towns of Poisodonia, Megas Gialos, or Finikas. Syros offers many activities including wine, cheese, and confectionary tasting; boating, fishing, unique architecture, churches, visits to textile artisans, and miles of beaches; there is fun here for everyone! Guest access There is access to the entire property. There is free Wi-Fi and if you need anything, I have Greek and English speaking managers - Joseph and Maria - who will take great care of you. Other things to note If you want to explore the island it is a great idea to get a scooter or a small car. I recommend Galissas Car Rental and they will deliver to the car or plane for no fee. Their information is in the Guest Manual ("House Manual" on this site) which is available when you book - along with many other recommendations. There is also a great around-island bus and a free bus that takes you to Ermoupoli, the main town, from a free parking area. This makes it easy as Ermoupoli is a typical small town with narrow one-way streets, cafes sprawling on sidewalks, and general colorful, friendly, fun hustle and bustle! Please note that we are required by the Greek government to charge each guest a Climate Crisis Resilience Fee of €15 per night. This tourism tax will automatically be added to your booking and remitted to the tax authorities. Registration Details 00000476657
