OLD BRITISH HOUSE is Ideal for travellers who have an imagination and appreciation for Vintage properties with naturally growing plants and trees quotes a dear guest. The House is known to be designed by British Architects around the late 1890s after carefully studying the Vastu Shastra. Surrounded by Malsi Forest Reserve and Rispana monsoon river. The space Old British house is located on Old Mussoorie Road (towards the north end of famous and posh Rajpur road) in Dehradun. { Entrance } Walk through a century old rustic gate, under the canopy of deep pink bougainvillaea, looking at the signature style colonial British house with a porch, sloping roofs and chimney on top, long corridors with broad pillars on ground, wide open space covered with river stones in front and a big garden by the side. { Rooms } KINDLY NOTE : IN CASE OF MULTIPLE ROOM RESERVATION HOSTS WILL A LOT THE ROOMS AS PER AVAILABILITY. Garden view cottages - These are 5 adjoining units with independent entrance on the ground floor facing the garden. Each outhouse is a small yet complete unit with a double bed, attached washroom, wardrobe shelf and a study. Entry into the room is through a classic double door with in built windows equipped with wire mesh. The windows provide for ample day light and cross ventilation into the room. You enter the unit and to the left is the attached bathroom with modern fittings and shower (hot water is available on request). To the right is an open wardrobe with multiple shelves. Walk through the small corridor between the washroom and the wardrobe into the bedroom. These rooms have old stone walls which are more than a foot wide and provide for natural insulation. The is sloping with a ceiling fan. Rooms are decorated simply to give a cosy cottage feel. Rooms have comfertable double bed with 6" foam mattress and good quality fresh sheets atop. All Garden view cottages have an outdoor sitting in the corridor facing the garden. Glass Room is our family suit. It can accommodate 6 Adults. This unit has adjoining rooms with a connecting door and a big washroom. These rooms have large windows for natural light and have a litchi orchard view. Both rooms are spacious and can accommodate 6 guests comfortably. The property has both Ac and non rooms, guests are charged for Ac only if they choose to use it. { Kitchen } All guests have access to the kitchen, It is equipped with a stove, mixer grinder, refrigerator, cookware, dish ware and filtered water. Everyone is expected to clean their used dishes instantly after use. Groceries and other utilities are available within walking distance at Rajpur main market. Guest opting to use kitchen for more than a week will be nominally charged for cooking fuel. Guests can order meals ( vegetarian and non vegetarian), tea, snacks and shakes from the options available in-house. All meals are prepared fresh hence we request our guests to inform the in house host at lest 2 hours prior to the usual meal time. Snacks and beverages are quicker. For hassle free service, we encourage self service. Some recipes used are preserved for 8 generations in the Sehgal Family. However, we are open to customise food preparation according to guest requirements. Guests traveling from European and western countries can opt for vegan and no spice food. We request and encourage all our guests to use the dining table and avoid eating in the rooms. Based on past guest reviews, the in-house food and beverages are highly rated. { Parking } Drive straight in through the main gate over the river stones ( locally called Bajri ) and park conveniently without blocking other cars. { Garden } The garden is spread out on the right from the main gate. The garden poses a variety of Himalayan fruit trees and seasonal flowers along the grass lawns. Guest access Guests will have access to the kitchen, dining area and garden. During your stay The family members are always available on property to interact with the guests, take order for food guide with the travel plans. We encourage all guests on property to interact with each other and share their unique stories. Other things to note With over 300 wonderful reviews to the House and family it has become our utmost responsibility to present the House without being unbiased to guests visiting for the first time. We have plans on the table to landscape and enhance the property and install hot water facility in every attached washroom of the Outhouse from the profits we earn. However, based on the quality time and experience as mentioned by guests in the their reviews, we never felt that rooms without hot water facility caused any discomfort. However we have a common washroom which is equipped with a 24/7 hot water facility along with liquid soap/shampoo for a relaxed and hygienic experience. Feel free to get in touch with the host for additional amenities like bathing towels, iron box etc.To say the least, our never failing effort is to ensure that every single guest has a comfortable and stay. Nevertheless, we have the Old British House-en suite for our guests who prefer luxury travel. It is ideal for business class, families travelling with small kids or anyone who wishes to stay in an en-suite.
