Description

This homestay is a part of Hum Sab Ek hain (We are One) initiative of SEWA. SEWA organizes poor, self-employed women workers in the informal economy towards two major goals of full employment and self-reliance. About the home stay: A homestay where you can experience the heritage and culture of Kalol Town in North Gujarat. It’s a home away from home, about 40 km drive from the district headquarter, Mehsana. It can be a perfect getaway to explore the unexplored. The space About the Home: Located in one of the many charming Indian villages of Gujarat. The house has two spacious & well ventilated rooms. The rooms are on the first floor with access to a balcony. It has beds & a table chair for you to use. There is one washroom which is outside the room. There’s a TV in the house for your entertainment. The kitchen in the house has a refrigerator for you to store your food. Basic utensils & supplies are there to help you make tea/coffee. Indulge yourself in the Gujarati cuisine served to you for breakfast. We live in the same house, happy to help! About the Locality: As you drive into the Kalol town it might seem almost driving into nowhere. But! But just like you dig deep into the ground to find diamonds, you dig deep into this hidden town to discover the real side of India and real culture that compliments the saying 'athithi Devo Bhava' which when translated from hindi means 'To us guests are equal to gods'!! This particular space is owned by me! I am Meeta, from Kalol, Gujrat. I am your host. About me? I grew up in a village called Ganeshpuri not far from where I presently live. My parents were farmers and growing up I learnt all the farm work and Well as soon as I completed my 12th grade my parents married me off to a kind hearted person. As I joined the NGO (SEWA- Self Employed Woman Assosiation, INDIA) I was trained in forty different parts of skills, namely time management, team building, leadership, computers etc... Sometimes my guests cant believe my education and my caliber. They appreciate my skills and joke about saying i qualify better than an MBA in my efficiency! Haha we all laugh over it but secretly I feel proud. I also run a radiostation in my village and it reaches 25 km radius around my village. why? Because we take woman empowerment seriously. The women who are helpless and not confident or have stage fear in the ruralmost part of India walk into the room freely and explore their talent of singing or speaking on the radio. Anyway, I cook well and qualify better than some of the best three star or five star in hospitality. This is what every guest says about us. We give you a taste of indian and mainly gujrati culture and our hospitality is known to touch sky.You have to experience the family ambiance personally to feel the truth. Guest access You will have independent access, by having your own separate room keys. You can have access to the balcony. You can use the kitchen to make tea/coffee. You can also use the refrigerator to store your food. Drinks and non-vegetarian food is not allowed in the house. Other things to note Kalol is an inner town and the ride will seem far, but once here you will know that your experience is totally worth it. We normally offer taxi services once here. alternatively you can download uber app and book a taxi which shouldn't cost you more than 300 inr from gandhinagar to kalol and more than 600 INR from central ahmedabad to Kalol. Prices from airport differ though. Also buses have good service here in gujrat. you could commute half way with bus and rest with tuk tuk, but mind you its not ideal and only suggest if you are short of money haha. Gujrat is a safe city but i recommend you to take care of basic things just like you do in your own country. you are welcome to ask us any tips to go around the city.
