Himalayan Anchor - Commander's Cottage

Naval officers abode in the Himalayas aptly named . After spending years in the beauty of coastal land and lapping in the sea and with it its infinite beauty ,a naval couple decided to build something in the Himalayas - their first love. It had to be serene, peaceful , with a garden, high but not too much, cool but not cold, homely and warm, in wilderness but connected, green but not a jungle. They searched and searched & finally found a place and built their dream cottage. The space The cottage is located near the town of cantonment town of Ranikhet in village of Majhkhali. Its a 10 minutes drive from Ranikhet town on the Almorah highway. The cottage is wonderfully located having a complete unobstructed view of the snow clad Himalayan ranges (Nanda Devi group) and the valley in front. The main characteristics of the cottage is that one gets to see the Himalayas from almost every room. Inner place comprises two bedrooms (one on each floor) with attached washroom, a living room with a fireplace and an expansive balcony, a TV room on the loft above the kitchen, an open kitchen with all utilities (refrigerator, microwave, kettle, cooking range, required utensils and a bar). Outer place comprises a garden in front and back and a stone floor porch adjoining the garden in front. The front garden and porch is a level below with steps leading to it from the entrance. The inner of the cottage is built with locally available pine wood , which is used in the staircase, the flooring, the loft and the roof - giving it a beautiful rich warmth and local flavor. To ensure that the guests are free of all house hold chores - Ganesh , the caretaker of the cottage, manages the cooking and cleaning . He buys fresh ingredients from the village market and cooks vegetarian food in the cottage as per the requirement of the guests and once work is done returns to his house in the village - leaving the guests in complete privacy. His services are complementary;guests pays for the ingredients as per actual basis the menu decided. We request our guests to cook veg fod in the kitchen. Guests can tip Ganesh if they feel so. In case guests come with a driver, the accommodation for the driver can be arranged nearby at nominal charges by Ganesh. It is advised that this information may kindly be intimated at the time of booking, so arrangements could be made well in time. In conclusion, it is a perfect place to recharge your self, take a lungful of clean crisp mountain air, catch up with your reading /hobbies, spend quality time with family and friends in total pristine private environment.
