Permit # 2023180 Creekside cabin at 6,000 feet elevation. Forests, Alpine Peaks. Mountain magic! Fall asleep listening to the creek. World's most comfortable Queen Bed. Cute cabin on its own 1/3 of an acre creekfront in historic Markleevillage. cozy, private 1 bdrm cabin with kitchenette, living room, large deck, gardens! Grover Hot Springs State Park! Rivers and lakes galore. 45' to Tahoe, Kirkwood. Sierra ski resorts. dvds galoreHike, bike, write, read, ski, explore, fish, relax! The space Attention fellow Mountain People! Our goal is for you to be comfortable and have fun! This mountain cabin is located in Markleevillage Pop. 197, surrounded by nature, one mile up Hot Springs Road from town on the left. Alpine County is Peaceful, wild and beautiful. Our house is on the neighboring property. There is a dome house on the left of you, about 25 yards away, generally unnoccupied. We are rated Frontier! Some cell phones don't work. Large screen with dvd/vcr Usually some basic internet. Electric heat. Small woodstove for when fires permitted. Wood is not provided and "found" wood not permitted. Bring dry wood and kindling under 12". Huge movie collection. Utility kitchen. rustic, cozy little cottage right on the creek in Markleeville, Alpine County on Hot Springs Road. Big sunny deck with patio table and chairs. Cozy nooks to read or write that book. Full size bedroom with comfy queen bed. carpet. Tiny livingroom and equipped kitchenette with small fridge (no freezer) woodstove. If you would like a fire bring small logs and kindling. great gas bbq. Aspens, pines, firs, junipers, pinion, etc. Beautiful views of the mountains, forests and creek. Large gardens with lovely spots to relax by the water. Usually very quiet and peaceful. (creek is very loud in the spring) bird, chicken, cow and wild animal noises, this is a village..kids and dogs across the creek. YOU WILL HEAR BANJOS! (or play yours!) . Sorry we no longer allow dogs s as their owners sometimes didn't watch them and they ate too many chickens and our bathroom door, and now that we advertise as pet free we have guests with allergies. No pets. 3 miles down the road to Grover Hot Springs State Park, 20m from Tahoe and Kirkwood. This is the California Alps. Leave the cabin and and hike for hundreds of miles in any direction. Fishing, biking (home of the Deathride and Alta Alpina) hiking, bird-watching, paint, write, ski, etc. Wildlife galore. Please be aware that this is the mountains. Be ready for snowy weather, bears, deer turkeys, (they are nice) mice, hicks, bugs, animals, wild and domestic, no internet or cell phone, (yay!) bad decorating, improper use of grammar. Adorable historic town dating from 1800. Total privacy...self check in and out. Great de-stress getaway. Dine at the Stonefly. (reservations advised) Food and drinks and watch the game at The Cutthroat Bar, nice general store has wood and ice. Sit by the creek and meditate, paint, tie flies, knit, plot murders, etc. Hang out on the porch of the old General Store. Rage, boat, golf, ski and loose your shirt at the casinos in Tahoe. Golf in Tahoe, Minden or the Carson Valley half an hour away. In winter,please carry chains and a shovel and warm clothes and be prepared for mountain driving, power outs, animals, storms, cabin fever, (WATCH YOUR ICE!) snow, bears, insects, squirrels tap-dancing on the roof. This is a cabin in the mountains! texting and cell phones usually work. we do not promise internet but there is also free wifi downtown at library and at state park Check in 4pm check out 11. Ask about early/late check in or out. Winter information: You are in an area rated Frontier. mountains with heavy winter storms, snow and ice on the road and in the driveway. When it snows-you will need a vehicle with 4 WHEEL DRIVE WITH SNOWTIRES OR CARRY CHAINS and know how to put them on! (we don't have a clue!) The power may go out during or after a storm. Be prepared for mountains and winter if you book. Guests will not be refunded for the power going out, or if they are not able to travel due to not being prepared to drive in winter conditions. but we do refund if roads close and you cannot get here (and you would not want to be here then anyway lol) You may have to walk in from the top of the driveway in heavy snow. The decks are icy and slippery at times. Please consider that you are travelling in the mountains and be prepared for ice and snow on the trails and property, closed roads or power outages. Warm clothing. Carry a shovel . Check the road conditions and expect slow driving in a storm. Bring a snack and shovel ,water and warm clothing, blankets, a crossword puzzle, chocolate and huskies. Safe Journeys! We will do our utmost to help you be happy and comfortable. We will die if you don't have a great time!!! Guest access Entire house and yard and greenhouse reading /writing nook. You can wander around wherever you like :) Enjoy the gardens, the chicken coop, the greenhouse, the beehives, the beach, , the creek. Chickens are friendly. If you don't like chickens just let us know and we will incarcerate them. Cows occasionally get loose. They are not ours, and I hide under the bed when this happens. Do not call hosts for cow removal. At some point, they come home. Lots of wild turkeys and other animals. We have bears, even during the day. Other things to note So much good hiking nearby. So many lakes and creeks and rivers. Bring your bike, water shoes, inner tubes, or skis or snowshoes. Al lovely easy hike to the waterfalls above Grover Hot Springs at the end of the road. Amazing when frozen in winter! Snowshoe, X-country skiing, downhill skiing too. Kirkwood 20m away. Lake Tahoe and the Rim Trail half an hour away or less depending on trailhead. Heavenly 25m .We have lots of books and movies. Large deck to relax on. Greenhouse to read or write in. But if you must...the wifi password is on the wall. works sometimes. Weather permitting we dry bedding on the line in the sun, so don't be alarmed if there is a smudge, a bug, a small bird or mammal stuck on them. We are happy to remake the bed if you find anything too alarming . There are extra sheets , blankets and pillows in the bedroom. There is a fan and a swamp cooler in the summer but no AC. It is cool here at night so leave your windows open and close them up when it gets hot it is rarely very hot.There is a nice propane bbq for you to use as well. You don't really want to cook that much on vacation, do you?
