Welcome to Buck Haven. This family owned and cared for retreat reflects the mountain and hunting history of our Patriarch and family. The simple and open layout allows guests to relax and socialize together, inside or out. Perfect for families, couples, or a circle of friends. From the front entryway, you can see the entire space. To your left is the living room space and the stairs that lead to the loft. The kitchen is directly ahead, with small sitting island as well as table and chairs, with the bathroom to the left and the bedroom with queen in the back left corner. Upstairs you find a pool table nestled in the center of the four single beds. Our favorite part is the outdoor space, with an open deck overlooking the river and lower lawn, and the front porch has cover for rainy days or shelter while cooking on the outdoor grill. Entire cabin. Once inside, local information and our personal contact information are left for you on the refrigerator. Respecting the leave it as you found it request comes with a side of complete privacy from the owners. Colonels Camp (aka Buck Haven) sits in the gateway to the Green Mountains. A drive up and over the Bristol Notch brings you North to Lincoln where you can Hike Mt. Abraham (20 min drive) or South to Breadloaf Campus at Middlebury College, Rikert Cross Country + Middlebury Snowbowl. (25 min). You can head into Bristol, the best little small town in VT:) or continue onto Middlebury (more hikes) or North to Burlington. A bigger adventure can take you to Fort Ticonderoga in NY, or the amazing Shelburne Farms. You’ll need your own rig to roam around this area. Camp does sit one mile up a dirt road. We have Mud Season in the Spring, gravel in Summer, and true Winter conditions (it is a town plowed main access road), There is a wood stove, as well as a small fire pit down by the river, but we do not provide wood. Wood is available for purchase in small quantities at the local Shaws market, or we can help you organize a larger load of wood if desired.
