Come and enjoy the chance to unplug from the electronic hustle of everyday life and immerse yourself in the fairytale that makes Elfendahl forest so special.  Our off grid homesteading destination is dedicated to sustainable living and the environment.  We are just starting out our second year making our 20 beautifully forested acres a place you will be wanting to come back to time and time again.  We are also surrounded by hundreds of acres of state lands where there are trails and roads that you are welcome to adventure out on. State parks, the Hood Canal and fresh water lakes  are only minutes away. You can enjoy fishing, kayaking, swimming and much more in its' surprisingly warm waters. We also have outdoor games like bocce ball, horse shoes and more.  Feel free to get involved and learn something new with one or more of our many ongoing projects and workshops.  Enjoy our vegetable  gardens, outdoor kitchen, composting toilet, shower, and community fire pit. Often times, there will be movie nights during the summer with our outdoor theatre. In our unique kitchen, there is a propane stove/oven,dishes and utensils available for your convenience. We have some vegetables and herbs in our gardens to share, so if you'd like some just ask us. The outdoor shower is private, with on demand hot water that you can set to your preference. Our famous composting toilet is much like a porta potty, except we use sawdust instead of strange blue chemicals. You'll be surprised just how clean and comfortable it is while saving hundreds of gallons of water each week. - If you are renting one of our Lotus or bell tents you will have access to your own private toilet.   -Please note: there are usually other campers around here on our homestead. All of our staff has been vaccinated. If you have not been vaccinated, please wear a mask and keep a safe distance at all times from other campers. We are just beginning our adventures into Airbnb and other online sites,  so please let us know what we can do to make your stay as pleasant as possible while you're here PLEASE NOTE: Elfendahl Forest is a unique, off-grid homestead campground—not a luxury resort. Here, you'll find a whimsical and creative space filled with fairy gardens, imaginative art, and the charm of nature at its core. As a working homestead, you may also see tools, equipment, and projects that help keep our community running smoothly. We aim to be as transparent as possible about what to expect, so you can fully enjoy the magic and authenticity of your stay with us. Guest access You will have access to most of the 20 acres and hundreds of acres of state land that nearly surrounds Elfendahl forest, but please be advised to stay on trails because it is easy to get turned around or run across animals that do live in Washington forests that could potentially be dangerous. Other things to note PLEASE SEE and screen shot DRIVING instructions before leaving Belfair as your internet will eventually drop out deep in our woods. -Following the Google map pin to Elfendahl Forest is the best way to find us. Copy and paste it on Google maps. USE THIS GOOGLE PIN AND DIRECTIONS. Apple maps and others might miss direct you to the south side of the Hood canal. WE ARE OFF OF NORTHSHORE/HW 300. *TAKE SCREEN SHOT HERE FOR LATER* THIS PIN WILL TAKE YOU TO HURD RD. & BELFAIR 47.439511,-122.924579 TAKE A LEFT ON HURD Rd rd. WE ARE 3.2 MI. IN ON HURD Rd. PLEASE NOTE! HURD Rd IS NOT a regular street sign (it's letters on a post). It is a smaller gravel road on the left. make a left on Hurd rd from Belfair Tahuya rd. and drive about 3.4 miles in. The gravel road isn't usually too bad but it takes about 10 to 15 minutes, it's what makes Elfendahl Forest a secluded gem in the woods and yet, less than 20min from town. If you look to your right (N.W) as you drive in you'll have a great view of the Olympic mountains, Mount Olympus and probably some wildlife. Keep going till you pass spring hill rd, then you'll hit Trail lane N.E. it is the NEXT rd. past spring hill rd (aprox a 1/4mi past it) There are a few signs on a tree on the right (a yellow "private rd no turn around" and a white Trail lane sign). Take that right on Trail lane and go through the "Green tunnel" as we call it. You will arrive at Elfendahl forest just as you get past the large school bus on the left and slow signs you'll come to to a clearing, you will see our Magical school bus on the right. Park in an open space unless you are here for the magical school bus (park next to it) find a staff member to help guide you to your site. If you don't see anyone right away feel free to hangout and look around the community fire pit/ kitchen area and we'll be around shortly.
