Rushmore National Monument. Half a million bikers visit the area the first 2 weeks in August for the Sturgis Bike Rally. There is much to see and do and 3 days minimum is recommended. Cars are the best way to see everything the area has to offer. Park at your cabin keeping in mind 1 other parking space is allocated for the other cabin. I often eat at Powder House on Hwy 16A just a mile away for breakfast lunch or dinner and the food is great. Pizza from Halley’s West at the Keystone “mall” is Great and so are the wings. They are near the Alpine slide and zip line course which are also a lot of fun. Custer Park via Hwy 16A is just before Mt. Rushmore and is called Iron Mt. Rd. Or Pig Tail Bridges Rd and a must experience. Stop at the top for the Norbeck Overlook for a great look at Mt Rushmore and a scenic photo-op of the Monument through the 3 different tunnels as you drive back down. This drive was a part of a James Bond movie “North by Northwest.”
