Arthur's Pass alpine retreat

Newly renovated chalet in Arthur's Pass village - a paradise for walkers, trampers. Come back to a warm and cosy retreat after a day hiking, skiing, fishing or mountain biking in Arthur's Pass or the many nearby national parks. The space The chalet has recently been renovated and has double-glazing, heat-pump and log-burner to keep it toasty in winter. Upstairs is a large room with queen and single bed, and there is another single bed on the mezzanine. Downstairs is the living and dining area, and another bedroom with a queen bed. There is a separate fully-fitted kitchen, with gas hob, electric oven and all new appliances. The bathroom has a large shower and the laundry has a washing machine. The chalet is situated in native bush with a large North-facing deck with outdoor furniture. At night you can hear many native birds, including Morporks and Kiwis. Guest access Guests have access to the whole house, except a locked cupboard in the hallway and a locked cupboard in the kitchen. Other things to note Bed linen and towels are not provided as we don't live in Arthur's Pass ourselves. So, guests will have to provide these. It's possible to hire bed linen from the nearby motel. Arthur's Pass gets very cold during the winter and this means that from time to time the pipes freeze and the heat pump doesn't work. There is a log burner and electric oil column heaters provided, which adequately heat the house. NOTICE: The summer of 2019 is a particularly productive masting (pulse seeding) year for the beech trees. As a consequence of the rich food resource and dry summer conditions, the mice population in Arthur's Pass National Park is extremely high, amongst the highest on record. No amount of bait and traps will keep the odd mouse from getting in if they really want to. If you are particularly averse to mice, we suggest you consider alternative accommodation.
