The Duck Blind at Pleasant Valley Farm

This tiny one-room cabin is located on Pleasant Valley Farm with its own large 4-acre fishing pond. Originally built as a duck blind, the 10 x 15 ft. off-grid camp cabin can easily accommodate two adults with a trundle daybed that doubles as a couch. An expansive covered porch, dock, gravel patio with picnic table, and an awesome stone firepit provide added outdoor living space. Tucked into a grove of trees, this is a very private place to relax, unwind, and go fishing or kayaking. The space Pleasant Valley Farm has grown to include 450 acres of rolling hills, woods, and pasture. The fishing pond spans 4 acres and is stocked with perch, bass, bullheads, crappies, and bluegills. Two kayaks are provided for guests to enjoy the pond. The Duck Blind is a seasonal, off-grid camping cabin located on a working beef cattle farm. While there isn't a bathroom, it has a comfortable outhouse. A Joolca on-demand water heater was installed in 2022 for hot showers and warm water for washing dishes. Soap, shampoo, and towels are provided as well as sunscreen, bug spray, and cleaning supplies. 30-gallons of water are stored at the cabin in food-grade barrels plus a 5-gallon jug of bottled drinking water. More is available at your request. The daybed has two 12" mattresses with 100% cotton sheets and thermal blankets. All bed linens (including blankets, quilts, and shams) are washed in hot water between stays, and beds are made the day before your arrival. You will be camping in comfort! There is no electricity. Small solar panels provide power for the lights and the water pump. There is a Coleman stove and a gas grill with an attached burner for cooking. The cabin is stocked with everything you need including vinegar & oil, coffee, tea, sugar, spices, pots and pans, plates, cups, bowls, and cooking utensils. A 45-quart YETI cooler will keep your food and beverages chilled. We have a beautiful fire pit with Adirondack chairs and plenty of firewood, kindling, and fire starters. The view of the pond from the firepit is a perfect place to hang out and enjoy the stars. During chilly weather, a wood stove is the only heat source for the cabin with plenty of firewood provided. We highly recommend 4WD/AWD to drive to and park at the cabin. This seasonal favorite for fishing and kayaking is available from mid-May through September. Guest access Guests have full, exclusive use of the cabin and pond. This is a working farm. Please be respectful of farm animals and wildlife. No hunting. Guests should not use any farm equipment or vehicles. Please do not bring motorized off-road vehicles such as dirt bikes or 4-wheelers on the property.
