Experience the splendor of the New Mexico countryside during your stay in our beautiful adobe casita. Located on a historic property, 35 minutes North of Santa Fe, in the village of Chimayo. The casita features hand plastered mud walls, soaring ceilings, luxury linens, large picture windows & private decks, in-room coffee maker, small fridge & microwave. Start your day with coffee next to the bubbling pond and end your adventures with a cocktail, taking in an epic sunset in the apple orchard. There are two attached private "casitas". They each have their own parking spaces, entrances, and decks. There is Air Conditioning to keep you cool in the warm summer months and radiant heat in the winter. The comfy queen size bed is made with 100% cotton luxury linens and down comforters. The mini kitchen is equipped with poor over coffee, tea, hot chocolate, creamer, a microwave, mini fridge, wine and drinking glasses. Our location is a great launch point to easily get to many Northern New Mexico attractions. We are walking distance to world famous Ortegas Weaving, Santuario de Chimayo- with it's healing earth- boasts the largest yearly pilgrimage in North America, and Rancho de Chimayo restaurant~margaritas, chips and guacamole anyone! Keep in mind we are in the country and there are no city amenities, so gas up before you get here and grab whatever you need from the market. The property is a true hidden gem, a New Mexico treasure, rich with history. We are located on the historic Plaza del Cerro, which dates back to the mid-1700's. The main building spans the south side of the plaza. Once the town square, it housed the post office and mercantile store. We have gone to great lengths, over 30 plus years, to lovingly restore the building and bring the property back to life. Provided in each room is "Sabino's Map", a terrific book about the old plaza, including historic photographs. We are very pleased to be able to share this special place with you and hope you deeply enjoy your stay. During your stay, you will have access to the entire four acre property, including the pond and apple orchard. Upon request, we are happy to provide wood for a bonfire in the fire pit. We have ample parking and can easily accommodate touring vehicles. Safely store bikes, ski equipment, and camping gear on the premises during your excursions. We have been happily hosting guests here for 25 years! We will give you space while you are here, but are available for you, if you should need anything at all, including local recommendations. If there is anything we can do to make your stay perfect, let us know. We are in the country and we have a strict cut-off of 10:00PM for all guests checking-in. Please print out all instructions as no one will be around to assist you late at night. We do not offer cooking facilities for our guests and being in the country 35 minutes from Santa Fe, there are limited services (no fast food, no gas stations, etc.). WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT WHEN YOU STAY ON OUR 4 ACRE HISTORIC PROPERTY, LOCATED IN THE COUNTRY, 24 MILES FROM SANTA FE: · Beautiful views, exquisite sunsets and dramatic evening skies · The occasional egret or duck in the pond · The howls of coyotes at night · Catch sight of a fox or a family of raccoons scampering across the fields · The occasional spider, fly or ant – we do not us “bug spays” or any toxic chemicals on our plants and 35 fruit trees. This is a conscious choice that our many returning guests appreciate · A walk around the 300 year old historic Plaza del Cerro, out our back door · 100% cotton linens and bath towels · Body and hand soap · Coffee and teas · Fresh, tasty water from the community water well · Radiant hot water radiators. Will heat the room to a toasty 85 degrees There is limited public transportation but it's best to have your own vehicle as we are out in the country. Sharing the property are three friendly dogs and roaming cats, a full time renter, and myself, the owner operator. Feel free to say Hi if you see us. There may be other guests staying in one of our other short term rentals while you are here, we ask that you be respectful of their time here.
