Description

Light and airy double room, with adjacent sitting room (which can be transformed into a second bedroom for one if necessary). Completely private, guests enjoy tea and coffee making facilities, tv, DVD player, free wi-fi and excellent breakfast. The house is less than a mile from the historic heart of the City of Oxford with its medieval buildings, colleges and cultural attractions. The area is vibrant with lots of bars and restaurants just around the corner. The space This is part of our family home, and only accessible via the main residence. There is a double room, with a comfortable double bed, exclusive use of a shower room with basin, shower and w.c. and a tv with DVD player. There is a drop-front bureau with chair for working. Adjacent to the bedroom there is a sitting room with a small sofa and side table. If needed, this room converts into a single bedroom with a sofa bed which can be booked by our guests if they want to bring a friend or a grown up child. This room is not let separately. The two rooms and the shower room are accessible via the main staircase, and form a private suite at the top of the house. Not suitable for visitors with mobility problems and guests will need to carry their own luggage to the top of the house - two flights of stairs Please note that hot food may not be taken up to the room, and there are no cooking facilities. By arrangement, guests may use the breakfast room, or the garden when the weather is fine to sit and chat, eat a takeaway and have a drink. We are a dog-centric household and although our dog does not climb stairs or visit the guest room, this is not a place to come if you don't like dogs!! Lola is a very friendly bulldog who will bark when you come in but otherwise is quiet. Guest access Bedroom and ensuite shower room on the 2nd floor. Breakfast is served in the kitchen or breakfast room/conservatory on the ground floor at a time to suit our guests. And if the weather is fine, it can be served in the garden. After breakfast, there is no access to the kitchen or other downstairs areas of the house. However, guests are welcome to use the garden by arrangement. Keys are provided for guests so you can come and go as you please during your visit. During your stay This is our family home, so we are around throughout our guests' stay. We are available to chat with guests, if they wish, at breakfast time. Please note that we have a very friendly bulldog, so this is not an appropriate place to stay if you do not like dogs! She will not climb stairs, so will not get to your room, but she will greet you when you come home! Other things to note We provide our guests with kettle, iron and ironing board, hair dryer, plenty of towels and shower gel. There is a radio and a tv/dvd player in the main bedroom. We are always around so if anything else is needed, we try and satisfy your requirements! The plumbing is on a Saniflo system which means that only human waste and toilet paper may be flushed down the toilet; everything else including human hair, cotton wool, wipes, sanitary products, etc etc should be put in the bin provided. The Saniflo macerater makes a low growling noise when draining from shower, basin or toilet. Care must be taken to ensure that taps are all turned off completely. Even a slightly dripping tap can lead to flooding. The shower room is under the eaves and has a low ceiling and the shower cubicle is extremely small so would be unsuitable for a large guest! A folder with details of local concerts, plays, tours and exhibitions is provided and kept up to date. This folder includes a map book of Oxford available to borrow - but must be returned to the folder before departure. It also includes the wifi code. Allen has poor mobility, spending most of the day in his wheelchair in the kitchen. He loves to meet guests so please do come and make friends. He goes to bed at about 9.00 p.m. and a carer comes in the mornings to get him up. There is a stairlift up the first flight of stairs, but that does not adversely affect guests' access. Please note that if the reservation is for two guests but both beds are used, a supplementary £10 per night cleaning charge will be made.
