Description

Read before booking to avoid disappointment. If it is not right for you, DON'T BOOK! Spacious, lockable rooms in a no-frills, lived-in maisonette above railway tracks in noisy, safe Clerkenwell. It's old, neglected, dusty; the facilities are shared with hosts and other tenants. The rooms are big for Zone 1, but this is a working, no-party household, not a hotel. If you want polished or quiet, please book elsewhere. If you want character, space, and a great location — you're welcome here. The space Please read this before booking to avoid disappointment. If it is not right for you, please err on the side of caution and DON'T BOOK! This is not a 5-star or even a 1-star hotel. It is a worn-out home because of age and neglect. I like to think of it as 5 Star accommodation in the 0-star category. If that makes sense, then book. If it doesn't, it's better to book elsewhere. Rooms available over two floors, all with access to a shared kitchen, bathroom, and toilet. The rooms are big, and form part of an old lived-in home with character in the noisy centre of London - Clerkenwell. The furniture in the room includes a desk, seating, a wardrobe, and a double bed. Bedding, pillows and towels are provided. These items remain the same, but the furnishings may change, e.g. a different style desk or bed. You can request a room, but we cannot guarantee it will be the one you requested. From the front door, there are steep stairs (45 degrees). The flat is above a popular coffee shop. The whole building forms part of a unique structure, distinguishing it from other properties in the area. The flat is situated above the London Underground and the Brighton train line. A view of St Paul's Cathedral can be seen from the stairs. LONDON's a DIN Bring your earplugs if you're a light sleeper. If you fear that it might be noisy in Central London, then read on. The Pub: Some noise from the Betsey Trotwood pub. Coffee Shop: No noise to limited noise. There is road traffic, which can be noisy, but we have additional soundproofing windows, which help a lot. Trains can be the biggest issue for some people. Some people think they will be fine, and then they're not. If you are in any doubt, please don't book. The trains create a rumble through the building as they pass underneath. It is not noisy as such. Others and I find it very comforting, but I can see that it might be an irritation to some people. If this is a problem, do not book! If you choose to live or stay in Central London, then some compromises have to be made, of course. But of all the places I've lived in London, this has been one of my favourites as any pros outweigh the cons, but remember, this is a home, not your home or standard, nor is it hotel accommodation! Guest access The kitchen is shared with fridges, a cooker, cooking utensils, a washing machine, storage, etc. Washing up liquid and refuse sacks are provided complimentary. The bathroom has a bath and a shower over the bath. A toilet. Toilet roll, towels, and bed linen are provided complimentary. There is no lounge. During your stay We know you're here to see London or do other things. So, we just let you get on with it. We are available to help you with your stay. Sometimes we eat out/in with guests, but it all depends on how busy we are and how busy you are. Other things to note Regardless of your length of stay, you're welcomed as a housemate, so make yourself at home, and contribute to keeping the place tidy and clean up after yourself in the kitchen and the bathroom. This helps us keep costs down, which is why we don't charge an additional cleaning fee. Please remember, this is not a 5-star hotel. It is not even comparable to a 1-star hotel. It is a worn-out home because of age and neglect. Some people don't read the advert and then wonder why their ideas of our home don't meet their expectations of a hotel or a really nice Airbnb place. If standards bother you, then my advice is to book elsewhere. A Sharing Space We have 3 bedrooms, so 3 people sharing x1 bathroom. However, the 3 rooms are not always booked out at the same time. For example, I just checked the last 2 months to see how many nights all 3 rooms were booked. In the 1st Month, there were 15 nights, and in the 2nd Month, there were 11 nights booked. Of course, it could have been 0 nights or 30-31 nights.
