Our typical fisherman's style, but comfortable cabanas are located on the shore of the beautiful Kalpitiya lagoon. Breakfast and wifi is free. The space Each wooden cabana has single beds each with a large mosquito net. Beds can be pushed together to build a double be which is bigger than a standard double bed. The cabana comes private shower (open air), chill out veranda and hammock. The cabana resembles a typical fisherman’s home. Has been individually designed incorporating traditional building techniques and locally sourced materials. The cabana has been constructed with locally sourced coconut/Palmyra wood and coconut thatching which is 100% ecological, natural and sustainable! All structures on site are constructed by locals, who have been a part of the project from the very beginning. Our coconut planation which we still harvest also houses our garden of tranquillity. The team take good care of the garden which is full of tropical trees, plants. We serve delicious seafood, vegetable dishes and fresh juices (on demand). We have few chillout areas - one at the restaurant with hammocks and a separate elevated chillout right by the lagoon, where you can have a drink and watch the most amazing sunsets or a sunset yoga session We also have an elevated yoga deck within our premises for perfect morning yoga sessions with a calm lagoon view. Our guests have exclusive access to our beach huts on Kalpitiya Lagoon and Vella Island. Vellai island is our key kite surfing spot. Guest access The highlight is our swing in the water. Enjoy a sunset beer on our elevated deck by the water. If you are a kite surfer, then you can go from the breakfast table to the water and start your kiting day (for advanced kiters). For sunbathing/swimming you can go to the other side (with the boat taxi for € 2,50 per person (flat rate per day, but if you have full or half board this is included). You can also go swimming in front of “Ruuk Village” premises. right at the bank of the lagoon you find sea grass, but the water quality is just as good as the Indian Ocean. It is no sandy as on the other side of the lagoon. If the lagoon’s bottom was sandy it could have been turquoise blue water. We also organize dolphin tours, willpattu national park tour or even a personalized round trip to cover the Sri Lankan Cultural Triangle. What we offer: 1. Our kite centre to rest at the kiting beach situated on the 75m stretch of sand bank, which is separating the Indian ocean from the lagoon. 2. We serve you lunch at the beach hut at no extra cost. Allows you to kite all day long, when all others have left for lunch. 3. Ayurveda massage and complementary yoga ( do check availability). 4. You can even learn how to cook Sri Lankan meals or learn how to extract coconut butter from coconut milk 5. We have few social projects where we support the pre-school close to Ruuk Village, in case you wish to donate, sponsor a kid or help during a day maybe color washing a classroom, we can arrange this for your too! Other things to note If you are traveling alone and books a single bed , you might have to share a cabana with another guest. If you wish to have the cabana for yourself, kindly inform us before you make your booking so that we can arrange this at an extra cost. Electricity is provided from 18hrs till 23hrs.
