Houseboats in Kerala, south India, are huge, slow-moving barges used for leisure trips. They are a reworked model of Kettuvallams (in the Malayalam language, Kettu means "tied with ropes", and vallam means "boat"), which, in earlier times, were used to carry rice and spices from Kuttanad to the Kochi port. These have thatched roof covers over wooden hulls. The traditional kettuvallam is mainly used for promoting Kerala tourism The space Our houseboat is built in the traditional kettuvalam style. The steel hull makes for durability and safety with three partitions inside. Eco-friendly materials such as bamboo, areca nut tree, bamboo mats and coir are used which gives the roof its old-world charm. Local experts have worked on the beautiful interiors to create a niche look. AC timing 9PM till 6AM The houseboat can be different from the picture as per the availability at the time of booking. Guest access Guests will be assigned respective individual bedrooms and are free to access common hall as well the kitchen area. Village walk can be arranged on request with extra cost. Other things to note Houseboats are normally docked near the jetty area post 5 pm as per local sailing policy by the houseboats authority. AC's are normally functional from 9PM till 6AM. If you are looking for round the clock AC services then the same can be arranged at an extra cost. Staffs stay nearby house from the docked area and can be reached on the call for any help.
