Your getaway puts you right in the middle of the Amador County Wine region that is famous for it's "big" Zinfandels. The ranch house overlooks the exclusive Story Vineyards and is a short 4 minute walk from the Story Winery Tasting room. The kitchen is fully equipped to enjoy and experiment with the wonderful local offerings you will find as you explore the countryside. The open kitchen and barn table is the perfect setting for a glass of wine, a good book, and a home cooked meal. You'll find everything you might need, a 4 burner electric stove and oven, full size refrigerator, microwave, apron sink and tons of gourmet kitchen offerings. The house is equipped with a fireplace insert stove and plenty of wood to burn and books to enjoy. The quiet of the county night, the stars...you'll find the Story Ranch Homestead is the perfect spot to recharge. Comfort abounds with luxurious bedding, towels. The Wi-Fi and cell service are strong enough to conduct those meetings that just can't wait. This is a quote from a recent Bay Area guest: "I had strong connections on both Verizon and Sprint, and the WiFi clocked in at ~5mpbs, enough for remote work/meetings. The nights get inky dark, which is a plus for stargazers, and a negative for people afraid of the dark." There is plenty of room for pets and children to explore and you will find privacy abundant. Parking is on the gravel drive way leading up to the house. As well as a gravel pad that includes an electrical outlet that can be used to plug-in electric cars. There is an outdoor well shaded stone pad with a picnic table and grill under huge California Oak Trees. String lights add a touch of county. The grounds are ready to explore. The wine region of the Shenandoah Valley in Amador County, California has 27 wineries that are just waiting to be explored and are just minutes away. The historic districts of Sutter Creek, Dry Town and Jackson are all an antiques collectors dream, and just a 15 minute scenic drive from the Homestead. The Homestead is a 35 minutes drive from "Hangtown" (Placerville) the seat of the Gold Rush of 1849. Guest need to be able to climb these three steps. There is no wheelchair access. The whole house including the service area is accessible to our guest. There are extensive mowed grounds around the house. Plenty of places to sit in the shade of majestic California Oak trees. There are 3 steps up to the house. Not recommended for walkers. Our time at the main ranch house may not overlap with your time at the Homestead Home. We have care takers that can be reached if there is a problem but for the most part you can enjoy the solitude. There is a lockbox so it is a hands free check in and out. This is a very remote location in fields over looking the Story Vineyards. All the land around the property is yours to explore. You will need to have a car to get around. Fields directly around the house are accessible for walking. NO SMOKING ANYWHERE. The biggest rule of the house is to be mindful to the natural environment you are in! Fires are always a concern, no smoking inside or out!
